My Lowrance Mark 5x pro won't power up. I've traced the lines and there is power to the fuse panel and to the fuse controlling the unit. Is there a way to check the unit?

If your Lowrance Mark 5x DSi won't power up, there are a few things you can try:
Check the power source: Make sure the unit is properly connected to a power source that is providing the correct voltage. Check the power cable and connections for any damage or loose connections.
Check the fuses: The Mark 5x DSi has a fuse on the back of the unit. Check to make sure it hasn't blown. If it has, replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.
Reset the unit: Try resetting the unit by pressing and holding the power button for 10-15 seconds. This will force the unit to shut down and reset.
Check for water damage: If the unit has been exposed to water or moisture, it may be damaged. Check for any signs of water damage, such as corrosion on the connectors or internal components.
If none of these solutions work, it may be necessary to take the unit to a professional for repair or replacement.
I notice in your photo a small dot in the top lh corner
if there are 3 matching dots in the other corners, I am thinking that they are plastic covers for the screws underneath
if that is the case gently pry the covers off as they will clip over a retainer or the head of the screw
Since the unit powers up, we can pretty much eliminate a power supply problem.
I would start by carefully inspecting your transducer lead for kinks, crushing etc. Assuming the cable is OK, clean and lubricate (silicone spray, safe for plastics) the cable end and where the cable connects to the unit.
First, just press and release the power button, you don't have to hold it in.
second, is your battery fully charged?
third, red wire to positive terminal, black wire to negative.
These are obvious things to check, but sometimes the simplest answer is the solution.
Did you install the fuse holder included with the unit? If so dI'd you put in the 3 amp fuse?
If none of these things work, call lowrance. I work in retail and have experienced taking brand new units out of the box and upon hooking them to power discover they were dead. Defective straight from the factory.
Good luck.
If I am not mistaken you do not need to remove the front cover. I believe you will find the mounting screws are inserted from the rear on that system for a flush mount.
Sounds like a software glitch. Strongly suggest you contact lowrance. I've been selling and installing these systems for many years. I don't recall ever coming across that on screen prompt previously.
Mark 5X is sonar only no GPS, so navigation is out.I would suggest you start by running the unit with factory presets to get started as you get used to using it. There some great training videos on YouTube for beginning to understand how to read your new sonar system.
Just do a soft or hard reset. I did a hard reset. Power off. Push and hold pages button, press Light/Power button once (do not let go of Pages button; wait until unit turns on, let go of button. Follow prompts. Should be good. Happy fishing.
