Unit flashes 'loading' continually on power up. I have been led to believe that this is a power supply problem that can be fixed by changing a couple of caps on the power supply board and adding a resistor to prevent the problem re-occuring. Can anybody supply me with details of the modifications required?

Voltages on CN5303 should be 12V and 5V. I found 5V to be2,5....3V.Check input of regulator MM1665A(should be 6V). If 6V ok,remove connector CN5303 and check if 5V ok.If so,here is my way to fix this "loading" problem.(create a new regulated 5V circuit)
Replace C5206 with 1000uF/25V,C5306 with 100uF/25V,isolate anode of D5213 from transformer,
wire one and an half turn around transformer,connect one end to ground and the other to the anode of D5213,remove MM1665A and replace with 7805 on appropriated radiator.
Input on 7805 is around 11,8V reason why you need to install it on a radiator.

This is a well-documented fault. In the USA power lobbiests got JVC to recall the units and fix the problem. The fault is a small component that was wrongly specified - when it reaches a set 'maximum' temperature is fails and causes a protection shut down. Over time it fails to allow start up. It is worth finding your nearest JVC approved repairer (if it is out of warranty) and have the recorder repaired.

While manually resetting the unit, as set forth in the question, restores normal operation, the symptoms may reappear. Presumably the UK JVC Centres will also carry out these free of charge ! NO SUCH LUCK! We are 'Rip-off' Britain - as always.

I have the exact same fault with my machine. I rang JVC Customer Services and an adviser knew of the problem straight away and advised me to send a copy of my reciept to JVC HQ and they would provide a label send send back for a free mod.
After 2 weeks, I got a letter Friday 16 Nov 2007, basicaly telling me it WAS NOT a common fault on this player and as the player is over 2 years old, take it to a repairer and pay!!
Great customer service I thought, thanks JVC. I have 3 other JVC products, but it goes without saying, I will NEVER buy another JVC product again on principal.
I had the same "loading" problem after 3 years from a DRMH20 that cost me £399.
I contacted JVC by email with a copy of my reciept (warranty expired 1 year ago) and they asked for a letter as they couldnt open attachments?!?!?!.
I sent a letter and the reply was that they were concerned (not as concerned as me clearly) and said they would not pay for any repairs due to the age of the unit. I explained to them that this appears to be a worldwide problem but they still wont help out.
This is the first and last JVC product i will ever buy.
I had the same problem, there was a 600 mv pulse on the power line to the dvd player. Changed c's AND PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Dat komt omdat ik die elco's
niet echt kon vinden , het zijn aparte dunne lange elco’s met temp code 105 graden. Die gewone 105 graden types kunnen er niet in.
De hele rij secundaire grote
elco's vervangen, de primaire 22 uf vervangen door 47 uf en secundair nog eens
470 uf .
Vevangen dus:
c5318 470 uf 16 v
c5203 680 uf 16v
c5204 1200 uf 16 v
c5205 1500 uf 10v
c5206 1200 uf 16 v
c5208 1000 uf 10 v
c5209 1500 uf 10 v
c 5309 470 uf
c 5340 en c5307
Uiteindelijk was in ieder
geval echt zichtbaar defect de c5318 en de c 5340. c5340 voeding van de dvd recorder. Er stond op
die plug die naar de recorder gaat een 600 mv sinus puls op die voeding, en dat
was de boosdoener kennelijk want nu komt ie na starten weer uit de loading lus.

yes i have the same problem with my DR-MH20S, we used it approx. 5 times...the display just flashes "Loading" and nothing else happens... though there is no dvd in the unit... no buttons seems to react at all, pluging and unplugging power does not help neither...! any fix to that...? seems that i bought the wrong model...My previous DVD player was a JVC too... it did exactly the same tric after a couple of months.... can't reccomand these models....
Display flashing "loading" is apparently a common issue with jvc drmh20 models... the worst of it is that the local jvc denmark does not even react to my request! i am impressed by the vey bad service level of jvc.
The display flashes "Loading" continually, the on/off button does not switch off the unit "loading" shows continually until power plug is removed.
This happened 6 months previously and a new power regulator was fitted. Our power recently went down and ever since the unit will not load.

If I mark as #1 the beginning and #2 the end, as I wire it clockwise, which number must be connected to ground? (I assume it's not the same either #1 or #2)

P.S. Of course, got the same problem and found both condensers "burnt".
I had the same problem with the DRMH-30. I contacted JVC and, even though it was out of warranty, they delivered a replacement to my home, free of charge. So I don't agree with the poor service from JVC UK. Needless to say the replacement lasted only several months before experiencing the same problem.
