Beeps indicate hardware problems. The number of beeps are an indicator of the sort of problem. They represent the beep code. So, you try to find a reference for your particular computer (at least the brand of the computer) which describes what the code message means. To stop the beeping, you fix the problem. Otherwise, it is like taking out the light bulb from your fix engine light on your car because it is flashing red. You can try running some hardware diagnostics, which may be particular to the computer brand you have. See the brands web site for support. Or google something like "my Dell beeps 3 times) and see what the net offers. There are a variety of beep charts out there. When you have a hardware problem, it is best practice to identify the hardware by brand and model number in your queries and searches.

Short beep, 1,5 sec silence, short beep, 1,5 sec silence, short beep, 1,5 sec silence, short beep, about 3 sec silence and then complete shutdown

Hello,

There is a problem with the laptop that is why you get the short beeps and then it shuts down.

The problem mainly is that, the components in the laptop are not sitting well or there is a faulty component in it. So it is not able to run a full loading of the operating system.

Have a repair man assess the RAM and other components in the laptop like the Hard disc and the rest. Remove them and install them back in.

Any fault detected should be corrected.

Take care

Beeping noise

I've had the Dell 1720dn at my desk for years. Worked flawlessly. Moved it to a different workstation and it began beeping immediately while printing. Another site said to plug it directly into the wall, instead of a battery backup. I unplugged it from the battery backup outlet, and plugged into a surge protector only outlet on the same battery backup unit.... NO MORE BEEPING. Hope this helps someone else.
