Good evening to you. I hope the same thing is not happening to you that happened to me. What happened was that I had the buttons had stopped working because of my impatience for the micro to work. I thought I would give the micro a rest, disconnected the power and let the micro rest over night. Connected it then to the power and started it like i started it the way I did the first time. I think it is worth the effort. Kolbru

I had this problem too: it turns out that it (apparently) just needed some 'warm-up' time!
After being plugged in for about 15 to 30 minutes, the buttons suddenly "came to life"...
Note that when it's flashing 88:88 you are supposed to _start_ with the 'Stop/Clear' button. After that, set the clock (press "Clock", enter the time with the number pad, then press Clock again).
