Not sure if I should charge the Remington 365 Mini dehumidifier before I use it for the first time.

If the little indicator ball is Blue at present, it doesn't need to be charged. Only charge it once the ball changes to Pink.

Hope this helped you.

any of these units lose their refrigerant charge after time and needs a re-charge of R-134a refrigerant

Compressor runs continually and cooling coils ice up but it doesn't defrost.

probally has lost some charge on the refrigerant. Low charge will ice the coil. Unless you are operating this at low temperatures. The ones I have seen do not have a defrost on them

I have a ebac bd80 and the coils stay frosted ,

Frost means one of two things, low refrigerant or low airflow across the coil. The unit probably has lost it's refrigerant charge ( or some of it's charge) even though it hasn't been used.

My kenmore dehumidifier compresor runs the fan runs but no water in the bucket . Compresor freon lines both same to have the same tempature ( flow and Return ) . Is a freon charge the answer ?

More than likely not. I would start by making sure all coils are clean, (both evap and condenser) and to make sure airflow is not being obstructed. Most factory charges appliances don't leak refrigerant and therefore should not have to be charged during there useful life. Hope this helps

No water collection and the coils are not cold? is there freon in the coils that need replacement

If the compressor is warm and running, chances are the charge is gone. There is no low pressure switch to shut off the humidifier. Don,t throw the unit out, take it to a repair shop to have it charged and fix the leak.
Good Luck!

No water comes out.

First thing is check your coils to see if they are clean. Then check the fan and compressor. If they are on ,they should be warm to the touch. If you have ice on the coil, you have a low charge. If not then you lost all of your charge. Don't throw it way. Take it to a repair shop to fix the leak and charge it back up. It will be like new!

Coils freezing up

Its likely one of two things. 1) the fan isn't moving enough air through the unit. If there is a filter, clean it. 2)If aire flow is OK and its freezing up on one end of the coil and the other end of the coil is not very cold at all then refrigerant charge is probably low. I know that seems counter intuitive but a low charge in a refrigerator or A/C unit (which this dehumidifier is a derivative of) can actually frost up when slightly under charged. Now if the charge is determined to be low there is a leak somewhere and that leak will need to be found and repaired. It will probably take an electronic leak detector to find it. If the leak is on a section of aluminum tubing in a tight location it may be impossible to repair the leak and that may force you into a new unit. If its on a copper tube it can be fixed. If its on aluminum tubing it can be clamped shut if there is physical access for attaching a clamp and seal. Sometimes a leak pushes out some refrigerant oil at the site of the leak making it a visible spot to the naked eye. Hope these comments are of some help
