NOTE THE COMMENT ABOUT THE RESET AND THE SIMULTANEOUS SELECTION OF THE + - SET and CLEAR BUTTONS to effect a reset after replacingg batteries
HOW TO INSTALL BATTERIES Remove the lid in the rear part of the remote control unit. Insert two AAA alkaline batteries of 1,5 V-DC. Make sure the batteries point in the direction marked in the battery compartment. The batteries last about six months. Depending on how much you use the remote control unit. Remove the batteries if you do not use the remote control unit for more than one month. Press the +, -, SET and CLEAR buttons together after batteries replacement. (This operation allows you to reset correctly all the programs. The remote control unit is to be set up again).Replace the batteries when the remote control unit lamp fails to light, or when the air conditioner does not receive the remote control unit signals. The batteries of the remote control contain polluted substances exhausted batteries must be disposed according to the laws in force.
There should be a "mode" button. Press it until you get a sun symbol, then set the temp to 23c. You can run it in "auto" and just increase the set temperature, reducing it to 19 when you want it to cool again.
Make sure you have set them correctly IE/ If you want them to heat, make sure the heat symbol is dispalyed and the temperature setting is above the room temperature. Press the "house" symbol on the remote to find the room temperature. LG as with most other brands , if set to cooling but the remote temp is set high ( 20 to 25 degrees,) will run for a few minutes and then turn off as the machine thinks it has reached the temperature you have selected.. Heat symbol on LG is a "sun", cooling is an icicle. Check your filters.... if they are dirty, the units will not operate correctly.
of course you can,if a wall hung split you can lift filter panel and push the on button, this setting causes a set temp of 24 deg, whether it be heat or cool,he aircon will decide that for you.
Symbolsin remote:
To get proper cold air set temp 23 degree and mode"cool". To get heat set temp 30 degree and mode in "Heat"
Now symbols: 1. fan leaves - Fan only 2. Rain drop- Dry mode 3. Snow flake-Cool mode 4. Sun- Heat 5. A or AU- Auto mode.

there are some remote that will work any TV,video DVD player VHS player etc about $19.00 instructions are simple to read and understand and will work your system........radio shack i believe has them that's where i got mine and the best feature is it lights up when using it so even in the dark it is beyond functional with ease ...
Open the front again and make sure that the operation selector is set to remote control. If it is, then I suspect that your remote sensor reciever on the aircon unit is bad. It is very simple to replace.
