Bose wave radio sound only works when alarm goes off

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your Bose Wave radio. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Make sure the volume is turned up on both the radio and any external devices (such as a phone or MP3 player) that may be connected to the radio.
  2. Check to see if the radio is in "alarm" mode. If it is, try switching it to "radio" mode and see if you can hear sound.
  3. Make sure the radio is properly connected to a power source and that the power cord is securely plugged in.
  4. If you are using an external device (such as a phone or MP3 player) to play music through the radio, make sure the device is properly connected to the radio using the appropriate cable.
  5. If none of these troubleshooting steps resolve the issue, the problem may be with the radio itself. In this case, you may want to contact Bose customer support for further assistance.

No sound from speaker but through ear piece I get sound.

Many devices will automatically switch off the large speaker when ear phones are plugged into them. Also there may be a switch or button or prompt on your radio to switch between regular speaker and ear phone jack. Look for that first.
Try connecting and disconnection ear phones while listening to a station and see if the problem is intermittent. If is works sometimes but not every time then it is most likely an internal connection.
You will have to access the inside of the radio to investigate further. Connect a working external music or sound source with speaker wire to the terminals inside the radio that connect to the radio's speaker. If the radio's speaker works with the external sound source then you know it is a bad connection inside your radio. If the radio's speaker does not work with the external sound source then it is most likely a faulty radio speaker. Look closely for a broken solder point or broken/disconnected wire.

Buzzing noise from speakers

The buzzing noise is being heard probably because there is another electronic device around that's using radio waves to function. (Such as a cell phone, a cordless phone adapter or a wireless router. Even microwaves and ceiling fans can give off these sounds.)

My advice would be to try and move around or turn off some appliances in your room that may give off radio waves.

Sound problem

You have a shorted speaker or a speaker with a bad voice coil. This has been confirmed by the fact that the audio amplifier is shutting down (protection) but the unit stays powered on. The speakers will play for a few seconds or maybe even longer at lower volume, but any length or time or an increase in volume will immediateley shut off sound. This is due to the fact that a shorted speaker wire/connection will ground out or short to one another. If you have checked all connections behind the radio AND at the speakers and found no problems, then it is a voice coil on the speaker. A shorted voice coil will work until the speaker cone moves causing the short or until enough power passes through the voice coil's short to turn off the radio.
Solution:
1. You can use a voltmeter set to check continuity to test for a speaker short. Disconnect all speakers from the radio and connect one side of your meter to ground and the other to the speaker lead. An audible "beep" will confirm a short.
2. The other method would be to disconnect all speakers and re-connect them one by one until the radio's sound output shuts off again. This will be your shorted speaker.
I hope this information was helpful.

No sound

PLUG IN YOUR HEAD PHONES IN - do you get sound ? If you do Get sound from your headphones it could be that your speakers blown and would recommend Bose to take a look if still under worrentee. if NOT You could still get it covered by domestic general find them at this link https://www.domgen.com otherwise if you dont want to pay for a repair take a look yourself - get a screw driver open up the case as best as you can look at the speakers, you may well find that you have a dry joint or a cable could have come disconnected if so solder it back on and you've FIXED IT! hope this helps. if it does OR IT DON'T, please leave feedback Anyway cheers raverbaby
