Possibly a bad door switch behind the holes where the latch hooks go into. Usually with the bad switch the timer counts down but nothing runs. It all depends on which switch is bad. Usually 3 switches inside.
I think there are some electrolytic capacitors in the power supply to be replaced.Because there are relatively few, it would be good to change them all for more safety
Controller is confused
A power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
Defective Interlock switches
This can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
Cleaning
Cleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave.

when you press for the time you want does it come up on yhe display?? if not clean the circuit board with wd40, & retry dont go two fast when operating as this can lead to the machine not to respond. also check the pad give it a clean and a good dry,
