Thanks. I'm writing about a sewing machine with programmable electronic options. Was hoping for something simpler and more specfific. CherylThanks. I'm writing about a sewing machine with programmable electronic options. Was hoping for something simpler and more specfific.

no keyboard detected. fatal error... system halted = your keyboard is dead, replace it. If you get the same message after a new keyboard then the PS2 connector is dead, you will have to use an USB keyboard.
Good day! here's the following steps hope it will help you.
Unplug the computer
Take the MOBO battery out
Remove the chassis jumper
Wait a few minutes
Replace the chassis jumper
Replace the MOBO battery
Plug the computer in
POST Beep Codes: OptiPlex GXi
If the monitor cannot display error messages during the POST,
the system may emit a series of beeps that identifies the problem
or that can help you identify a faulty component or assembly. The
following table lists the beep codes that may be generated during
the POST. Most beep codes indicate a fatal error that prevents
the system from completing the boot routine until the indicated

you need to go into the bios of your pc.....usually pressing the delete key when you see the first logo screen after booting up....look for a section that relates to errors and what the bios is supposed to do when it encounters an error.
i.e if you see a line in the bios that says "halt on all errors" disable it and when you next boot up the bios will not stall.
I'm not familiar with that particulat model, but I'd guess the motherboard has a chassis switch connector, and senses the chassis be open. Could be because:
- chassis open (close it),
- switch defect (as a workaround, you could short-circuit it, or just unplug it - whichever solution works for you).
As another workaround, you can probably disable this switch in BIOS.
very simple shut down computer put side panel back on and restart go into bios and under the settings somewhere you will see enable chassis intrusion. Just disable that. If you put cover back on then proceeded by turning power on and you still get this error than it is time to clear CMOS and then you must go into the bios and hit setup default and then go into any timings and voltage settings for CPU Memory and such. and also disable the chassis intrusion. You can enable it at anytime. just as long it is not powered up when removing side panel. I hope this is helpful.
Open Your system and there is a Battery which looks like a Coin. that is CMOS Battery (CR2032) Change that battery and then Reboot your system and try go to BIOS menu with DEL , F11 , F1 or F2. Either of these Buttons can Work.
