My290outdrive lifts out of the water when reverse is selected

Boat out of the water.
Tilt the drive entirely.
You'll see right under the exhaust bellows an stanless steel construction with 'hooks'
There is a link coming from your selector leverthat will lift those hooks when in forward, and let them go down in reverse.
Those hooks must grab the horizontal shaft in the transom.
Check if the hooks can turn freely ( they must stay aligned with the horizontal shaft) and if they go up and down when moving forward or reverse...

I got a 5hp mercury 1992. It's in excellent condition. I can't seem to lock the motor down. It looks like it sets on a pin and won't lock. Help

the lock down only operates in reverse gear and is used to stop the motor lifting up when you want to go in reverse
other wise it will not lock down in forward gear as there is a requirement for the leg to jump over submerged objects with out breaking the leg off

Remove rear seat

Rear seat cushion-fold forwards, release plastic clip from hinge, remove wiring multiplug if applicable.Lift out cushion.(40% backrest)Tilt forward approx 20degrees,use a screwdriver to release catch retainer on outer pivot pin.lift backrest and withdraw from inner pivot pin.Lift the backrest from inside vehicle.(will only lift out if backrest is tilted forward 20degrees from verticle. 60% section can then be removed on saloons by releasing the lock with a finger and pulling from the anchor pins.On estates unscrew centre seat belt lower mounting and unscrew hinge pin from centre support. unhook upholstery clip and lift backrest from lefthand side mounting.slide backrest towards the door to release centre pinlug and withdraw backrest from inside the vehicle. Refit in reverse order.

Toyota sienna 2001 won't go in reverse but it goes forward

Does it crunch? If you lift the clutch and then press it down whilst trying to get it into reverse as this lets the cogs move allowing you to slip the drive into the gears this may allow you to get it into reverse. So here's the steps:
1 start the the engine
2 drive the car for about 10 kms
3 try and get the vehicle into reverse
4 lift the clutch whilst holding the stick in the gate ( you should feel the cogs turning and shaking the stick)
5 then push the clutch down again
6 if it still won't go repeat step 4/5
if it still won't work then try and get it into reverse whilst stationary and then start the engine it will jolt but can free up the gears!

hope this helps :)

My shuang ma 9101 will not fly forward

I had the same problem. The problem is to do with the little cog in the back of the helicopter that drives the tail rotor. If you reverse the helicopter it creates downward movement but if you fly forward it creates lift. This lift can actually cause the white plastic gear wheel to also lift and it looses contact with the drive cog itself. Undo the two screws to lift off the black casing, prize off the white plastic cog and file the underside down slightly. When you put it back in place it now sits slightly lower and does not lift too high when you fly the helicopter forward. Hope this helps.

L.P. powered forklift will not move in reverse. Forklift will lift, shift, and move forward, but will not move in reverse. While in reverse the engine will rev up, but there is no reverse movement...this...

Check for blown fuses and check the reverse solenoid. You can swap the forward solenoid with the reverse one. If it works, then replace the solenoid.

Yamaha 200HP, HPDI lifts out of the water when shifting

sounds like something got put together backward . most motors will lift when put in reverse if not locked down . this is to prevent getting swamped by the rush of water going backward .
