    Thanks so much we were able to get into bios everything we try it just goes back to the black screen with the cursor and unfortunately we don't have the original cd anymore

Depending on your version of windows, I would trying starting in safe mode to see if the computer does boot. If it does, then you want to restart again, go to advanced boot options and select "start windows with last known good configuration." Access advanced boot options following the steps at this link.     Thanks for the advice we tried alot of things is there a diagnostic we can run that may tell us what is not working properly?

    If you can get into the BIOS of the computer you should be able to confirm that the harddrive is actually working. Depending on your version of windows, some offer diagnostics if you boot with the original CD installed.

Hi Jim,

this seems like a no boot / no video kind off issue and mostly is coz of corruptions in softwares or drivers, try booting the computer in safe mode. if it does, then take a data backup. i would not recommend experimenting in this issue as it can crash the computer.

Acer is going straight to a black screen after the acer logo in startup....it just shows a tiny blinking line. It goes no farther. I need help fast
Apparently your Acer cannot find the operating system. As soon as the Acer logo comes up, there should appear in one of the bottom corners "F" & a number should appear. Immediately start pressing that F number (top row of keyboard). This should take you to a boot screen. Scroll down to boot sequence. Hit enter. Make sure boot-up sequence is CD or floppy drive first, second should be HDD, then escape. Restart computer. Should then boot off CD drive. I am assuming you have an operating system (XP, windows, etc.). Let me know if this doesn't work.

Hi
OS means operating System and HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive.
When u turn ur system on is it already black or it shows the bootscreen like ACER logo etc. and then goes black.
If thats the case then ur OS has crashed. Try installing new one.
And if its black right from the start then i think it is a hardware failure.
