I am trying to print a booklet 2 pages per sheet double sided. Printing is OK but spacing is no good for the binding when the pages are cut in two. What instructions should I give the printer to allow...

Hi

By spacing, I assume you mean the margins at the centre.

The default margin settings are not the same for the right and left hand side of the page, so the printing on the reverse side is offset from the printing on the first side.

The right margin is always wider to allow for punch holes in file paper.

It is not the printer settings you need to adjust, it is the page layout of your word processing software.

Adjust the margin settings manually. In MS Office 2007:

Page Layout > Margins > Mirrored Margins.

Hope this helps.

How do I change margin setrtings foe Lexmark P4350

If you are preparing to print a document that you have created in Microsoft Word, you may be concerned that all the text on the page will print exactly as you see it on your screen. This is not always the case. You can adjust your print margins to ensure that your text prints on each page exactly the way you would like it to appear.

Opening Your Document
Open your Microsoft Word document by double-clicking the Word icon on your desktop. If you do not see the icon on your desktop, then you can locate it where it is buried on your "Start" menu. Click "Start," followed by "All Programs." Then click "Microsoft Office," followed by "Microsoft Office Word." A new document will open on your screen. Click the "Office Button," followed by "Open." Scroll through the files listed, and double-click the one you would like to print. It will open on your screen.

Check Your Margins
By default, your page margins are set to 1-inch margins on the top, bottom, right and left of your page. You can check your margins or change them by clicking "Page Layout," followed by the "Margins" button.

Select New Margins
Select a different margin size, such as "Narrow," which indicate 1/2-inch margins, or "Wide," which indicate one-inch margins on the top and bottom and two-inch margins on the left and right. You also can select "Moderate," which indicate one-inch margins on the top and bottom and 3/4-inch margins on the left and right. Finally, you can select "Mirrored," which indicates one-inch margins for the top, bottom and outside. The inside margins are set at 1 1/4 inches.

Print Your Page
Print your page. Press "Control" plus the "P" button. The printer dialog menu will come up. Make sure that "All Pages in Range" is selected. Press "OK." If your printer cannot print your new margins, then a new menu will pop up telling you to adjust your margins.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

I am a teacher. We have Dell computers with windows 7 on them. Recently our school district downloaded Microsoft Office 10. Since the new microsoft office, my xerox phaser 8500 is printing strange. ...

Hi fsaltzman,

You need to check the margin settings in the print preview option, make sure you decrease the margins that are set by default and try printing a test page , this should work fine.

On the File menu, you need to click Page Setup, and then click the Margins tab.
Here you can adjust the margins as per your convenience.

To View page margins :-
  1. You need to go on the Tools menu, select Options, and then select the View tab.
  2. Under Print and Web Layout options, select the Text boundaries check box.

The page margins appear in your document as dotted lines.

You can use these dotted lines to correct your margins so that your student's assignments are not cut off and there is no large margin as you have mentioned in your question.

You can view page margins in either Print Layout or Web Layout view only, and they do not appear on the printed page.

Hope this helps

When printing continuous Quicken checks with the Epson LQ-590, the first check prints perfectly but the second check prints about 2 lines lower than the first check, then the third check prints 2 lines...

It can be the margins set within the printer defaults or the margins set by Quicken. In your print preview within Quicken you should be able to see where the margins are set and adjust accordingly. Otherwise, you may need to go to your Epson's print queue and adjust the properties directly on the printer. A nice way to check it is to see if you can print some test checks to plain paper and adjust as you see fit!

Printing problem in Microsoft Word 2003

Does the bottom border show up in Print Preview? Some printers will not print the full page, to include the border if it is too close to the papers edge. If you adjust the border to be further away from the pages edge, it should print. Instead of applying a page border, you may have to draw a border using a rectangle shape and apply the desired line style.
You can also try to adjust the border margin to measure from "edge of page" instead of measure from "text". This setting is on the options button located on the page border tab under the Borders and Shading window. This may allow you to adjust the margin enough to be able to print the border.

It sounds like you need to do a page setup and adjust the margins. Hope that is the problem. Other wise I don't think you would get the shift. Bud
