The sound works, but why is there no display on the monitor?

The screen stays black, no matter what buttons I push. Battery seems charged. None of the buttons work except for power

If the screen stays black it means there is an issue with BIOS. It should load before the HDD ever does. Mother board issue or monitor issue.

When i plugged in my sva lcd monitor it was all black but the green light was on,so i reached around the back and tightened up my cords and it came on :)

MG17R display went black one morning. The blue light comes on, but screen stays dark. Other monitors work on this computer.Using Vista on an HP CPU. None of the menu buttons have any effect.

Try the monitor on anopther computer, then toss it.

Acer aspire one power button comes on but screen doesn't come on.

1/ Take a close look at the display in bright light; can you see anything there? (If so then the CCFL (or its power supply) needs replacing on the display
2/ hook up an external monitor and see if that works (or at least if the light stays green on the monitor)
3/ Any boot beep? any "Windows sound"?
4/ try removing the battery and (using only external power) see if it starts.
4/ remove the battery AND the external supply, hold the power switch in at least 30 seconds. Hoojk it up again, try it.

Replace the entire DAC board (board with power suplly going into it) for easiest solution.

Gateway monitor FPD1975W won't display

Same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.

Monitor flashes on then goes black.

I think you have the display shut off. the button on the bottom left will shut screen off. It will come on for a few seconds if you touch the screen, but will shut off again. just push the display button again and it should stay on.

there may have been some kind of damage to the lcd. sounds like you are going to have to send it in to have it fixed.
