Try holding the esp button down for about 15 to 30 seconds and see if it will reset itself. If not you have a stability control problem. Have the tech check the wheel sensors, alignment and steering components , such as tie rods and the rack system. Have brakes checked also. The ESP reads wheel rotation and angle then uses the steering and braking systems of your car to keep your vehicle stable in a skid or slide. A problem with this system will cause the light to remain on until the problem is found and corrected. Go to another Mercedes dealership.. They don;t seem to know what they are doing.

Hi, normally when this fix occurs, it interferes with the awd sensors, suggest you take it for a diagnostic to cancel out the awd light. This can be done at a diagnostic specialist or agents.

If you are DIY minded you can get an OBD2 Diagnostic tool, about £25 for a basic one,but the sky's the limit. Available from ebay.
My local garage wanted £100 to diagnose, so a good investment.
These have a more accurate fault finding by way of fault codes. Take careful note of all letters and numbers before resetting system. If fault returns then I advise looking up fault codes online and deal with them. If the fault keeps bringing up the fault light, Do not keep resetting. investigate with the help of the fault codes, and repair before resetting.

If the vehicle speed is greater thanapproximately 30 km/h (19 mph), the ESP systems (other than ABS) will turn

When the transfer switch (if equipped) is

ESP systems (other than ABS) will be canceled automatically. The light will come on and stay on.
• If the ESP systems operate continu-ously such as when driving on slippery roads, the traction control functions of the ESP systems may be canceled temporarily to avoid overheating the brake pads, and the light will come on. After a short period of time, the ESP.

Esp light comes on after long journey

Hi there:
The "ESP" system helps correct oversteer and understeer by breaking the inner or outer wheel as needed to get the car back on a straight path. When the light flashes the "ESP" system has detected this condition and has momentarily engaged.

The fault can range anywhere basically from simply a failed brake lamp switch to anything like a failed wheel speed sensor,or brake pressure sensor etc. Check first to make sure you didnt accidently push the ESP on/off button on your dash which would cause this light to come on also. If thats not the case then you will have to have the code or codes read in your ESP control module (computer) to see what code or codes are set to be able to diagnose from here.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Esp light flashing

There could be one or more of several reasons why the ESP light has illuminated on your Smart car...
For example, you could have a fault with dirty reluctor rings on the Abs system - faulty Abs sensor/ s ... a fault with the brake light switch - a fault with the steering angle sensor -- even a software glitch / issue in the control system...
The above are known issues that can and do cause the Esp light to come on.
What you will have to do is have the car connected to a dealer diagnostic machine - This will run a full diagnostic test and fault code read - to see why the Esp light has come on and quickly and efficiently find the right cause - and then it can be sorted out, whatever it transpires to be.
You really cannot do much on a Diy basis on these for this fault. You can check the reluctor rings as mentioned above and the wiring to the ABS sensors. The abs light will often come on to with the Esp light - but not always. Dont check these these things with the Ign On....
Too, you can check to see if the brake lights are working - if they are not - thats a definite indication of brake lamp switch failure which will cause the Esp light to come on - but while its worth checking - even if the lights do work - it doesn't always follow the switch is ok - it has a dual function - brake lights and engine management circuitry...
At which point, if you have found nothing - you will have to have the diagnostic done as above to find the fault.

Yellow triangle with ! in the middle popped up on dashboard what does that mean

It's the ESP warning light, You may have a ESP button on the dash which you can push to reset it, Otherwise try having the car idling in neutral and turn the steering wheel fully left then right the back to middle, This should reset the light, if it comes back you will need to get the car plugged into a diagnostic scanner to find the issue.

My 2002 vw passat esp light comes on when you turn the engine on

Hi Amanda
I have come up against this problem a few times before.
If the ABS. light is NOT on, and its the ESP light only that is on...your problem may well be a faulty Yaw sensor. This unit is fitted to the floor panel under the rear seat...in the centre. Another problem (although not all that common) is a faulty ESP switch. You should have an OBD code reading done to make sure. If a new YAW sensor must be fitted, the car must be driven with a full steering lock in both directions (left and right) at a speed over 20 Km per hour after fitting. If this is not done the light will remain on, even though it will now drive ok.
As for the price of this unit...Here in Ireland it costs around 140 euro. Hopefully its cheaper where you are. So better to have the codes read first.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck with it

ESP light on

Hi Colin
You should get the OBD codes checked to make certain what the problem is.. £1500 sounds a crazy price. If the ABS light is NOT on also..your problem could be as simple as the ESP switch. Also check if your vehicle is fitted with a YAW sensor...as they also can cause this problem. This is a small unit fitted on the floor panel under the rear seat.
Good luck

Jetta beeps 3 times while ESP light is on

Probably one of the ESP sensors have faulty connection. These sensors measure the speed of the wheels ,if they are not connected then ESP cannot work. For safety reasons the system will not start up and gives you this error message.

2003 GTI 1.8T ESP light on and cruise control inoperative.

If the ESP light on the touran stayys on pernamently then it is extremely likely that the ABS control unit is faulty. Its a common problem with tourans, unfortunately the part alone is about £1000.
