I am Taking a guess at this. May or may not work. Have you tried unplugging the unit?, and leaving it unplugged for 5 or 10 minutes? I have noticed with everything these days having electronics involved, severing power often resets everyuthing to a default position. You might try it if you haven't already.
also, there should be in the owners manual an 800 number
to call for assistance from the mfr.thwy usually have a tech you can talk to. good luck!

OFF indicates that the Temperature Control is switched Off.
Pressing the Up or Down Buttons should change the display back to the Temperature Display and allow you to set the required Temperature.

There should not be a fire hazard but you should be concerned that the freezer could break down if it is not allowed to vent the heat it produces. The freezer is not intended nor designed to be enclosed The manual must indicate specifications for minimum clearances for rear, top and sides, and may even be indicated on the big yellow sticker on the inside of the door. The clearances must be respected or again, the unit will fail, and the warranty may be voided in such cases.

If your'e positive the temp is ok then your freezer cold control may be bad. Slowly turn it toward off. If the compressor doesn't cut off before it gets to off, the control is probably bad. Test it here>http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php

pour some hot water in the drain if this does not work use compressed air
Testimonial: "So far that worked great, we will see if it continues to drain when the freezer is back on and does it defrost cycle."
Hello gorog52 - From what you have described and the upright freezer keeps displaying OFF, you possibly have a communication problem with the electronic control assembly. I recommend contacting a professional to accurately diagnose and repair the unit.

Figured it out after searching on FixYa for quite a while. Although several replies from others say to press the UP button, that was incorrect. On Frigidaire (and Kenmore made by Frigidaire), the DOWN button was what needed to be pressed several times to reduce the temperature.
So if your Frigidaire is stuck in OFF mode, unplug for 30 seconds, then once you plug it back in, press the DOWN button to change the temperature setting to -12 degrees. That seems to be the minimum setting the freezer will allow before automatically going into OFF mode.
