SOURCE: Conference call with a Polycom SoundStation EX

The conferencing capability to bridge 2 (or more) external stations comes from the telephone equipment/service that you have purchased. Either you are behind a PABX or Electronic KSU, which provides multiple phone service to your office, or you purchase conferencing capability from your local telephone provider (Verizon, AT&T, etc). In either case, the way to initiate a conference call would be the same as when you would have a desktop/office phone and establish a conference/bridged call to external parties. Usually this occurs by having one party on the line, flashing the disconnect button momentarily, getting a new dial tone, dialing and connecting to a second party, then flashing the disconnect button again, which signals the equipment to bridge those two calls to your station.  On the SoundStation EX there is a Flash button that provides that capability of momentarily flashing the disconnect button.  Try and see if that works. If not, then you will need to make arrangements to purchase the external equipment or service from your provider.  If you have the PABX or electronic KSU, it may also be a configuration option that you will need to have your support person for your telephone system, activate for that station connected to the SoundStation EX. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Usin for an internet conference

You need to buy a Computer Calling Kit from Polycom. That is essentially a cable with a 2.5mm connector to the Polycom Soundstation 2W on one end and two 3.5 mm connectors to the PC Sound card end (one to the Microphone port and the other to the Speakers port).

Four way calling

When you conference two lines or more together you get what you call line loss which makes the audio levels deteriorate. So to conference yourself and three others properly you may have to try a few different options to get the performance you want out of the conference call. Many phones/phone systems have three way calling which connects you and two others, so depending on the calls you wish to connect, an option would be to have one of your callers actively participate in the conference connection procedure. For example. You have a two line phone with a conference feature. So you call person A on one line and person B on the other, then hit the conference key. Now you have "Y" (yourself) and person A and B speaking together via the conference feature on your telephone. Now all you need is person A or B to have the same two line setup with the conference feature and they make the third call to person C and hit their conference button, now all four (Y,A,B&C) of you all talking together. If it is not possible to have one of the callers do this, you will need to have at least three phone lines and a phone that will enable you to have four way calling. However, you may want to dial 611 from your telephone, and try to get to a service rep., your local phone company may have some options for you. However, rather than investing in costly phone equipment, it might be cheaper to use a call conferencing service. They are fairly cost effective, and you basically have the three other partys call a toll free number at a specified time and you call get conferenced together for a fee. And last, you may want to research some VOIP options if all the partys have high speed connections. Good Luck
