If all the other voltages are OK, +B too should be there. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Type in key phrase " my service table today " in the search box at the top right of the display window; to get gathered related posts. I'm sure that any one among it will help you to troubleshoot. If not, search for more. SMPS troubleshooting to many popular type circuits are given along-with the circuit diagram.

My hitachi plasma 42 PD7800TA does not turn on ,not even the standby ,the fuse is fine ,dont know what else to do? thanks Tony.

Hello
The power regulator board in your Hitachi is not switching. It is an SMPS [Switched Mode Power Supply]. Normally for plasma TVs the power supply repair will be almost impossibele due to lack of component availability. If the fuse is OK, definitley the switching process has failed it it. There is an IC which oscillates at high frequency, whic its oscillation signals are given to MOSFET transistors to chop the incoming AC, converted DC voltage. These switched voltage is passed through SMPS transofrmers which it turn generates secondary voltages that goes to different circuit boards of your TV. The power board is the most important section in a Plasma TV. it must be perfect in every respect in terms of secondary voltages. If any one of this voltage goes over than specified, the main boar will get damaged. So it is adviced to replace it as card basis, rather than making "sugery" to it. The power supply board can be had from Authorised Hitachi Service centers. You just give the the exact model number of your Hitachi TV. They will give you the orginal power supply board. Never play experiments with Plasma TV. OK.

When I try to charge the battery in my Cardioline delta 1 Plus machine, it says "supply failure" and it also will not run on outlet power.

hi,
You have to check the power supply of you machine. Normally it will be a SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply). If the SMPS is faulty then the machine will not work on outlet power and also will not charge the battery. That's why it displays supply failure. Check the SMPS if available then replace the same. For repairing the same can only done by an experience person in electronics. Because there are high voltage areas in the SMPS. So if you need to repair the same consult some one who is experienced in it.

Ive had this bluray player for 2 years and it was working fine, then one day i tried to turn it on and nothing happened. i checked if the fuse was blown but i appears to be fine. so there is no power...

hi,
there is possibility of two complaints.
1, The SMPS power supply fault
2. the mother board fault.
if the SMPS is faulty the you can rectify the problem. If it is with the mother board the you have to contact the manufacturer .
First of all you have to check the SMPS ( switch mode power supply). you have to check the voltages at it secondary stage. 5v, 12v, etc
switched-mode power supply (switching-mode power supply, SMPS, or simply switcher) is an electronic power supply that incorporates a switching regulator in order to be highly efficient in the conversion of electrical power. Like other types of power supplies, an SMPS transfers power from a source like the electrical power grid to a load (e.g., a personal computer) while converting voltage and current characteristics. An SMPS is usually employed to efficiently provide a regulated output voltage, typically at a level different from the input voltage
for checkin the SMPS voltaes you need a multimeter. And check the voltages at it secondary stage

if there is no outputs from the smps then you have to replace the SMPS drive STR ic near the big capacitor. Also ty to replace the OPTO coupler ic. y have to check the all resistors near the ic.

Remember one important thing that the capacitor can hold charge for some time even if you disconnect the power. so after removing the power. remove the SMPS very carefully. discharged the capacitor using a bulb.
i have also added a video for SMPS working for you reference will hep you for repairing your one

Tv does not come on with off on switch or remote. Set completely dead. VCR doesn't run either. Fuse is OK and circuit board looks like new. Nothing looks overheated.

Quite possible that the fault is relative to the power supply of the TV. So it is important that the voltage is measured of the output in the SMPS - switch mode power supply.
If there is no output the SMPS is faulty , failure of driver or frequency oscillator.
Please check the link below:

Once the power supply is restored the voltage feed to the processor and sub sections must be checked, for failure of any regulator or fusible resistors

Do not start

First remove smps power suply unit box from cpu.
Then ground pin and check is it on you have to ground 4-5 pin blck and green.
Then if it is on then smps is ok.then pull cmos cell from motherbord for 10 minutes make sure cmos cell give voltage.Remove pci cards from pci slot is any.
connect ATX power supply to motherbord then check.
But if smps is not turn on then it has some issue.
Change fuse of smps if still not on then you have repair it or change.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks.

Power on is ok but when switch off not ok

They are lightly loaded and WILL take time to bleed off the charge on the caps.

Also switching power supplies MUST have a load on them or they MAY overvoltage.

TV IS DEAD. NO POWER AT ALL. HAD A SERVICE TECH LOOK AT IT. HE SAID THE PCB HAD TO BE REPLACED. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM? IF SO , WHY?

If the set is totaly dead then the first place to start is with the SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply). However sometimes other parts will cause the Power Supply to short out as well. If and when the Power Supply is replaced and the set comes back to life and operated with a Menu then you are probably ok. Note: On your set when replacing the SMPS the tech Must adjust the SMPS voltages to the Panel Voltages. There is a sticker on the Panel that list the voltages the tech must adjust on the SMPS.

PC smps power supply problem

ok you open the pcb check the fuse first then replace it if faulty if it burns again then check 4 diodes then see if 200v big capacitor is expanded or not if so then replace it if not then check diodes after transformer if short then replace it
