AC blows warm air. 07 GMC Envoy 6 cyl. 4wd

So far replaced the accumulator and low pressure switch and still blows warm air. Jumpered out the ac relay and compressor kicked on and cold air started blowing. I'm at a loss now as to why it won't blow cold air without the jumpered relay. Any ideas on this will be appreciated.

You probably replace the wrong switch. I believe the high pressure switch is mounted in the back of the compressor. Pull the plug and jump it. If it works, replace the switch. I don't recommend you leave the jumper in the plug. If it the A/C pressure is to high, you could blow lines and such. Costing you a lot of money.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your reply Randy. But get a load of this. Along with the A/C not working, the fan clutch would output a screaming sound most notable in the lower gears. Sort of like a jet taking off. I was going to order a new fan clutch until...yesterday, in a light rain, my neighbor and I decided to do more checks before ordering the fan clutch. Much to our amazement, as I pulled into the driveway, for the heck of it, I decided check the A/C. It was working. Compressor was engaging and disengaging while turning the A/C off and on again. Wow, after 2 weeks of not working it starts to blow nice cold air. Not only that...I decided to take it for a ride to see if the fan clutch is still screaming. Nope...quiet takeoff and no more screaming noise. I'm happy, it's been 2 days now and still working normally. Any ideas now on why things are doing what they are supposed to do??"

The fan clutch was stuck. It has just let loose. I recommend you replace the clutch. If you have an electrical sensor on the front of the fan, the clutch was most likely the problem. Grab the fan. Any movement front to back, the clutch is bad. When the fan clutch is frozen, you will get the jet engine noise.

Thanks for the help Randy. Will check the front to back movement when all this rain stops. Do you think the clutch affected the operation of the A/C system?

No, not unless it the clutch is wired, You will see it when you look.

I love my 2004 gmc envoy. It has been a good car except for the ac system. The ac does not blow cold air at all. It blows warm air but not cold. It also almost has no pressure. Lastly level 5 on the ac...

I would check the freon in the system. Their are kits avail. at parts shops such as Advance etc. Follow the directions and "viola" things will be cool.

A/C is blowing hot air. Freon is full, compressor

2006 Kia Sorento EX. I had this same problem. It started after I had the ac compressor replaced. At first it was intermittent, it would blow cold and then blow hot, blow cold then blow hot again until it just started blowing hot. Turned out it was the AC relay switch in the fuse box under the hood, I swap it out with the horn relay switch (they were the same type relay switch) the ac has been working fine ever since and the horn also works even with the bad relay switch. Go figure?

Two questions on my 1999 gmc suburban K1500: 1) The 4wd switch has no power (no lights lit) and will not switch. Its in 2WD now, but will not make any differential changes. Looking for troubleshooting...

common for the 4WD switch it self to go bad, what happens is the connection in the switch solider goes bad from the heat and current draw from the light. Inspect the switch and repair any signs of damage or replace the switch in the dash.
Below are normal car AC pressure readings with 134A.
  • Normal readings on high and low side with AC OFF (static pressure) – Depends on outside temperature, but normally is between 80-105 PSI
  • Normal low side reading with AC on high speed and MAX & engine at 800-1000 RPM’s – Ranges from 25-35 PSI
  • Normal high side reading ranges from 200-350 PSI
Don’t assume that if adding little Freon is good that adding a lot is better! Overcharging just a little can decrease the performance of the system and possibly damage the compressor

BOTH readings should be checked to have a better idea of what is going on with an AC system but based on the limited information… the compressor is not engaged or is not pumping. Below are some things I would check;

1. Check the high and low gauge readings with the AC on & set on MAX/Recirculate, middle vents with the engine at 2,000 RPM’s, blower speed on high.

2. Check the vent temperatures with a thermometer from the middle vents, far right & far left vents?

3. What is the outside temperature at the time the readings were taken?

4. Check to see if the condenser fan blowing strong?

5. Notice if compressor clutch is cylcling excessively.

Thank you for using fixya and be safe

1992 gmc c1500 ac compressor relay location Currently there is no power to the low pressure switch on the accumulator. AC clutch will engage if powered with a jumper wire.

I pulled this from another web site
"The AC clutch relay is located inside the cab on a metal bracket that is easiest to see when you remove the glove box compartment.

The relay is on a metal bracket bolted to the top of the plastic air box, forward and to the center of the dash from glove box.

There are three relays in a row on that bracket. The AC clutch relay is the end one closest to the driver’s side."

Ac is blowing warm air in my 2005 sierra 2500hd duramax. Any idea

Your system has R-134 Freon in it. the 134 is made up of smaller molecules than the old R-12. The R -134 permeates through the rubber parts of the system. If the system gets too low on Freon, the compressor will stop coming on.(low pressure cut out switch). Have the system serviced with an A.C. machine that can vacuum, measure the amount of Freon in the system, and add the right amount. The machine can also inject die. Later the die will show up under a black light. This will show any leaks you may have.

Charge ac

It is located under the hood in the larger of the 2 AC lines, this large line is the low pressure line, also check on the round can the low side line connects to as it can be on that as well, that part is called the Accumulator/reciever drier
