It is possible that the dust chute on the Kobalt saw is plugged, not allowing the vacuum to pick up the dust. Run a rod through the dust tube and see if that clears it.

Vacuum is less than a year old and died in the middle of a use. No power... tried to plug it into 3 known, good outlets. Suggestions?

SOURCE: Can't install a bag for my Craftsman 16 gallon shop-vac

Well, good news, you don't need a bag! The trash just settles to the bottom of the bucket and you just dump it out.

I own one of these -- it has many little operational anoyances -- like wheels falling off, lid popping off, etc. If you run into these scenarios and want help on fixes, drop me a line.

SOURCE: my shop vac blows dust as soon as it's turned on

there should be a cover or sock over the filter, this will stop the dust.the paper filter is the part that can not get wet. if you don't have a cover for your filter use an old sock or something simular to a sock.

SOURCE: How to stop dust from escaping the shop vac tub

The only sure fire way is to use a filter, bag and ensure you have what they call a "noise muffler" but in all reality it's a filter that not only dulls the noise but doesn't let dust escape via the access there in the rear.

The hole behind the saw blade can become blocked solid with sawdust ( especially if the timber is green or wet). clean out the vacuum hose back to the collector.

Safe way to vacuum drywall dust

SAVE THAT VAC

One of the hardest things on a shop vac is drywall dust. It is so fine that it gets through the regular filter and destroys bearings/bushings and ruins the motor. Just the other day, a friend commented that he had to get a longer hose as his vac was blowing out a lot of drywall dust because the filter was slipping down!

High performance filters are available at most hardwares and box stores. They resemble the paperbag filters in carpet vacuums and catch the drywall dust so that the bag can just be thrown away when done. The bag is U-shaped to install in the shop vac and have clearance around the regular cartridge filter. The inlet has a rubber seal that pushes around the inlet on the inside of the tank. Just run the vac normally but spare it and your lungs!!!

Newer wet dry shop vac ring that holds on filter continually falls off

See if you can determine why this is happening.
I have also had such events, and have found it is sometimes necessary to repair or modify the machine, as the plastic parts can wear, or crack , or whatever to cause this.
You may have to do some "creative" repair.
God bless your efforts.

Dust blowing right back into the air

You need to check the filter and make sure it's on all the way. To do this take the top off the vac, make sure the filter is all the way up and in place. There should be a plastic nut to hold it in place. If you are using it for fine dust particles such as drywall dust, you need a special filter for small particles. The filter that comes with the vac just won't do it!
