Acer 5100 my laptop not doing any usb keyboard or anything, but the operating system loading

Bad motherboard or a failed attempt at a bios upgrade/flash

You need to unload the USB drivers for the keyboard and let windows find them again at restart. How does a novice do this? It's not hard. Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Keyboards. Right click on this and select uninstall. Reboot your machine. If the drivers are not corrupted they should load fine, if they are corrupted then Windows will ask for the original operating system disk.

All this assumes that your keyboards are electronically working. This last holiday season alot of people brought in their Logitech - Target specials that no longer worked. Seems that if you insert the batteries backwards once the keyboard no longer operates (mouse OK). Never checked in to it too deep.

Its time you need to replace the CMOS Battery. i suppose the battery is weak and it does not save any of the changed you do.

I have a Acer 5100 I am facing the same prolem my USB ports stopped working and then the Keyboard the system boots but i cannot do anything like the password nor can i start in safe mode or go to set up, if somebody can help me sort this problem ,thankyou

Dear reggi_soq,

If your laptop keyboard is not working and you need to press a key to boot from a CD, try installing an external keyboard (either USB preferably OS2).

first of all u have to re install windows( operating system)
before inserting the windows cd u have to plug an external keybord and mouse and start the system.
boot from cd and continue.
the laptop keybord and mouse could be unusable anymore.

Try go to bios setup and then "load bios setup default" then press "F10" to save and exit.

if this no work.

You should provide the system recovery installation disc and insert it to the CD/DVD rom then start recover your system.

Note: important files will be removed when doing this, so if you can back up your files do that.
