While the beeping for an incoming call is appreciated, it is HORRIBLE and disruptive when talking to a customer. Can we turn it off when we're on the phone or is this just the function of the headset?
SOURCE: No 3 beep notification in the earpiece of an incoming call
I had the same problem and the cause was the handset lifter and not the earpiece--if the ringtone is too low at the lifter, it won't be detected and transmitted to the earpiece. Cranked up the ringtone and everything is fine.
If that doesn't take care of the problem you might look at whether or not you're using custom ringtones which might cause a problem. Switch them back to the defaults and see if the problem goes away.

The earpiece will make 3 short beeps when a call is incoming. Also the phone will still ring if you are within distince to hear the ringer. Hope this helps! SM

Remote ring detection provides a low tone * triple beep in your
wireless headset when you receive an incoming call. This feature
requires a handset lifter accessory, such as the Plantronics HL1 or HL10. If you do have a handset lifter but do not hear the remote ring detection, please check the following:
*Please note the volume of notification beep in the headset cannot be altered, it will always be a low tone triple beep .

to solve this problem on the left side of the base there is a inset dial that has 1-4 around it turn it so it points towards the number 2 this should make the headset beep when recieving calls.

Triple tones are usually associated with the battery having a very
low charge. You should be getting approximately 5-6 hours of talk time
and 5 days of stand by time from a single charge. If you are not, then
the internal battery may be going out. The battery is hard wired and is
not replaceable, however the headset does have a one year warranty from
Plantronics and they will replace it within the warranty period.

The HL10 handset lifer is what notifies your headset that
you have an incoming call. If you are using the handset lifter and are not receiving the 3 short beeps in your ear piece there are a couple
different things that could be going on.
1.
The internal microphone could have gone out on
the lifter. This microphone is what sends the signal to your headset that you
have an incoming call. If the microphone is working you will hear 3 short beeps
in your headset.
2.
If the
volume is too low on your telephone, the handset lifter will not notify the
headset of an incoming call, so try turning the volume up on your phone and see
if that takes care of the problem.
3.
The HL10
handset lifter ships with a ring detector that has a 2.5mm jack on one end and
a small round microphone on the other end. This ring detector is intended for
phones that do not have the speaker located under the handset. You could try
plugging this into the back of the lifter and setting the microphone next to
where the lifter is mounted on your phone. This might help pick up the
sound of the phones ring tone.
If you are manually
lifting your handset out of the cradle and sitting it to the side instead of
using a lifter, then you will not receive the 3 short beeps in your earpiece to
notify you of an incoming call.
Good luck from Headsets Direct!
