These are fun projects that consist of methodically taking the unit apart until you have the broken part isolated. Then putting it all back together with the replacement part as the centre of attraction.
You can figure this out by checking the direction that the blade turns when it is operating and the bolt will tighten the opposite way because if it turned the same way it would loosen off when the motor was turning the blade, so almost univerdsally it will loosen clockwise and tighten counterclockwise.
Drain tank, flush with gas. Remove float bowl from bottom of carb and clean. Fill tank with fresh gas and Stabile. Prime 3-5 times. Pull rope 10 times to start.
Depends on how old it is. If it has a disc blade, it won't fit (there's no blade boss to fit it to!), but if a standard blade is fitted, it can be replaced with a scaifier blade. Having said that, rotary mowers aren't really suited to the task - better to get a cheap cylinder mower and fit a scarifier cylinder. MUCH more effective.
If you have verified that you have spark by grounding plug to head or whatever method you used, then try spraying a little WD-40 into front of carb & see if it kicks over. let me/us know.
hi,if you can remove starter housing and think you are up to replaceing cord then you can get replacement cord from any repair centre but may be as well to take starter along and they should do it for a nominal fee ,which is cheaper than if you damage it doing it yourself,it doesnt have to be a hayter dealer since the engine is a briggs and stratton ,hope this helps
