When you charged the battery on the other notebook did you use your notebook's ac-dc power adapter unit. I would try using the other notebook power ac-dc adapter on your notebook or get a voltmeter set on DC voltage 20volt range and test your notebook AC-DC adapter produces the required DC voltage of the Notebook requirements.

I would say bad battery, batteries can short and just die, they usually get hot too, try a new batt. don't buy a new one if you can even find it as it will cost allot, what I do is I have a local battery store replace the internal batteries on the battery pack, there are also places online that can do that for a fair price
for example a DELL battery pack to purchase was $185 I had one rebuilt for $25

It sounds as if the power coming through your ac adapter may be causing interference with the touchpad, meaning perhaps an electrical signal is crossing into your mouse or disrupting its signals.
You could try to download the latest drivers for your touchpad and see if that fixes the issue.
You should also (if you haven't already) try a different mouse to see if the issue is related to the mouse sub system, or the touchpad itself.
If possible, try a different AC Adapter to see if that may be the issue.

Radalin -
I've done a lot of laptop repair, and have run into similar issues with various laptops. What you've described sounds to me like a problem in the power circuit on the motherboard. There are a number of things that can cause this, and, generally, none of them are an easy fix - blown capacitor, bad power IC, bridged leads on a relay. If you have any experience working with integrated circuits, you can always test the power loop on the laptop with a multimeter. However, you may want to look into obtaining a warranty repair, or purchasing an extended warranty so that you can get a warranty repair; if there has been no user error(i.e. fluids spilled on the computer, dropped computer, left in excessive heat or humidity), then its a factory defect on the motherboard.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link. At this level of disassembly if you haven't seen the battery, it is not many steps to get to it.
I did notice something green toward the lower left of the base in step 19 that may be it - if not it's just a matter of removing the remaining motherboard screws and connections as it would be on the bottom of the board.
Shame the battery did not need replaced at that time.
