Only works in Forward 5 or Reverse 3. Changed Forward/Reverse switch, still same problem. Any suggestions?

There should be 5 positions for the gear selector.

Neutral
Reverse
Forward 1 wheels only
Forward 2 wheels and tines reverse rotation
Forward 3 wheels and tines forward rotation

If you have reverse tines only, then the problem is internal to the transmission. My guess is the wheel drive chain.

There's 2 cables that go into my outboard. ... It would have forward just fine but it would not shift into reverse. Assuming it's a wheel boat does the throttle handle go intoreverse but reverse doesnt work or does it not even ... Vehicle does not move forward.
The following parts and assemblies need to be checked thoroughly.
1. Manual valve
2. Valve body assembly
3. Forward clutch C1
4. Planetary gear unit
5. 1st and reverse brake (B3)
6. Park/ neutral position switch

You do not specify which Santa Fe steam engine you have, but I am going to guess it's the Santa Fe RTR O27 set...

You will have air in the system and will need purged. To do that you jack up the wheels to where they will turn freely then disengage the hydro and at an idle alternate forward and reverse for a for about 4 or 5 minutes. Recheck the fluid level and top off. Now engage the hydro and do the same forward and reverse for 3 or 4 minutes. You should have axle movement at this point. Hope this will help.

Have you changed transformers? You can also make a Lionel run in opposite direction by using the throttle control...just go to stop and then to power and then back to no stop and right to power. That often works.

the coil pack is likely bad especially since you changed the switch. call minkota and get the bench tast info (very simple) and then order and replace the coil pack about 26 dollars. be very careful how you put the magnet assembly back together and mark the position of the case on the outside before disassembly. order a new seal kit and use locktite on the shaft again when reassemling to seal the shaft tube for water. dont run motor uout of the water much as it uses the water to cool the shaft and you can damage the seals. good luck.

I have the Infoguard SX100M Axeus, sold by Staples.
Only the reverse was working, UNPLUG and open back cover, the paper mechanical switch was working fine, red side switch, the gears and fuse were all ok, I think something on the circuit board was fried.
I switched the BLACK and WHITE wires with each other going to the shredder motor, thus when I switched it to reverse, it would go foward and shred. Its working now, only in reverse.
