There are a few reasons the hose will collapse. One thing is for sure you will need to replace any sections that have collapsed because they will continue to collapse now that the integrity of the hose has been breached.

  • The suction is too strong.
  • There is something stuck in the head of the cleaner. acorn bottle cap etc...
  • The hose is just old and needs to be replaced.
Here is a good resource for pool cleaner trouble shooting.

I have a 1986 Chevy Silverado with a 350 engine, why does my top radiator hose keep collapsing?

The hose collapses because there is air in the cooling system. If the system is properly full, the hose cannot collapse because water does not compress. If there is a leak in the system, you need to repair it, refill and bleed the cooling system, and ensure that the reservoir has a proper level of coolant in it. If there are no leaks in the system, then the reservoir (recovery) bottle could be low on coolant, allowing air into the system during the expansion and contraction that occurs as the coolant heats and cools. Another thing that can cause this issue is a defective/worn out radiator cap. I would recommend replacement of the cap, refill and bleed the cooling system, then top off the reservoir and then monitor for any further issues.

What cause a vacuum hose on the driver side of the engine to collapse

The hose that collapses is weak and needs replacing. The engine vacuum cannot be all that great, normally runs around 17-22psi at idle and only increases a little during deceleration, not above about 26-28psi. Not enough to collapse a good vacuum hose.

My 2007 Lacrosse is running hot. The top radiator hose gets hard when the thermostat is in place, but collapses when its out?

Thermostat needs replacing. The wire spring inside the top hose that keeps the hose from collapsing has eroded away. You'll need a new hose too.

Skimmer hose collapsing

There is variable suction valve that attaches to the vacuum port that I believe is missing that keeps this from happening, attach it an it wont happen again.

Turbo / Intercooler Hose collapses

Most probably your hose is the problem, does the exhaust smoke more than usual ?
If it does then the collapsing hose is reducing the air volume that your engine needs. Your turbo is trying to drag air from the intercooler rad the hose collapses, reduced power.
If you can't get a new one before Christmas try taking off the hose and pushing a hard plastic pipe inside it, if there are bends in the pipe cut the plastic pipe into halves and feed it in. may help. But you really need air into the engine.

This is always caused by a clogged skimmer head.

Hose collapses, single skimmer intake, worked before installing new pump. Pool guy says with only one pump input, no use of jandy valve is possible. Need to know if there is a Kreapy Krauly 'plate' or...

If you go a new pump and the cleaner stopped working, chances are that your automatic pool cleaner is not compatible with your pump. Your pump must be able to produce at least 25 gallons of water per minute to work with this cleaner.

How do you remove the hose to ck for blockage?

If the hose collapses and there is no suction, that is a sure sign of a clog. The clog will be on the opposite side of the collapsing hose from the motor. Good luck.
