How can I get a bent front wheel replaced on my son's bike. It was bent when we purchased it and we didn't realize it.

We bought a Roadmaster Adventures 700C at Walmart for our son on 5/25. We have not been able to get the front brakes properly adjusted and I realized the front wheel is bent. How can I get it replaced?

SOURCE: Front wheel wobbles

More than likely the wheel is out of true. There are 2 choices,

1 Buy a spoke wrench and attemp to true the wheel. You can do this by spinning the wheel to locate the spot where the wheel goes furthest to one side then tighten the spoke coming from the opposite side. Do this slowly 1/2 turn at a time. Do not over tighten the spoke. It may be necessary to loosen the other side slightly.

Alternate spokes between both sides of wobble.

2 Take bike to a good local bike shop to be tuned and have the wheels trued. Most shops offer a tune up at low cost. A well tuned bike will last a long time.

SOURCE: Men?s Schwinn 700C Prelude Road Bike Assembly

Pedals can be purchased in pairs and some road bikes do not come with pedals. They have 2 different axle sizes 9/16" and 1/2". There are road pedals and road clipless pedals. The ones with clips and quick bindings require special biking shoes that the cleats clip into.Quick releases come in various lengths for front and rear wheels depending on what wheel you have. This all means a trip to your local bicycle dealer. They will match the pedals to the axel size you need and the type of riding you will be doing. For a little extra cost they will install them. They will also match you up with the proper length of quick release skewer you will need and show you how to install and tighten it properly.Remember to take your bike and the front wheel. Hope this helps. Good riding.

SOURCE: bought a 700c Schwinn Avenue Hybrid Bike and have no manual

Sorry Brandonman, but that's really bad advice. You should ALWAYS be pedaling while shifting gears. The chain is designed to move sideways ONLY as it moves forward. You place undue strain on the components when you try to shift without pedaling.

Hi I recently bought a used roadmaster mt sport sx bike and the rear gear that's attached to the wheel is moves like in circles... is that supposed to happen... if not how can I fix it?

Lots of things on a bike move in circles. If you mean it moves when you pedal but does not "catch," so the bike does not move forward then that is a problem with the rear gear cluster. You need to have a mechanic look at it. If that's not what you mean you need to get help in providing a more clear explanation.

How do I disengage coaster break on jeep x16 full suspension bike?

You have to replace the rear wheel or take the hub apart and remove the shoe for the brake. Best to go to a bike shop and purchase a wheel or see if they can replace the hub with a free wheel hub.

Have roadmaster mens bike 26in. Rear rim is bent need to pull out guts to replace with new rim. Cant remove part were chain goes on rim

No guts need be pulled out. You just have to remove the gears to get at the hub flanges straight-on.

You know, a complete wheel replacement might set you back less than the parts and tools you would need to do it correctly.

Google "bicycle rim replacement" for the actual procedure.

Like this one that starts out, "The wide availability of inexpensive, well-built replacement wheels has reduced the need for wheelbuilding in retail bike shops."...

I just bought the bike , and have just noticed the front fork is bent , it looks like the left fork bends foward about an inch , is this normal

Bent forks are not normal, most likely got damaged in shipping.... There is a spec that you shoudl be able to get from the bike maker.

I need a front rim assembly for a mongoose spark 26" X1.95 dual disc brakes. i purchased this bike at wal.mart north Olmsted, Ohio 44070. the bike was hit at the front rim is bent beyond repair. i...

If you want only the rim who would assemble it for you? At this level of bicycle it's usually cheaper to buy a wheel than to buy a rim and have a shop swap it over.

Look at the disc itself and count the bolts holding it on. You want to order or locate a 26-inch disc wheel with a hub that matches the disc rotor you have because you'll be transferring it to the new wheel.

You probably also would want it to match cosmetically. Then look closely at the rear wheel and assess what brand (or at least what color) the hub and rim are.

A quick search of eBay for generic "26" disc front wheel" 's brings up 37 of them starting at $45 including shipping. OR you could drag the Bike or just the bad wheel to a real Bicycle Shop and let experts take care of everything.

Just bought brand new mountain bike and cant put front wheel on due to the front forks being slightly twisted suspension forks they are

That sounds like a manufacturing defect without seeing it. You may consider returning to where you purchased it. New bikes generally come with a one year warranty against manufacturing defects and materials, so if it is new then they should be able to give you a new part.

Most professional bike shops have a set of what are called "H" tools that are designed to align dropouts on front forks and the rear drop outs. If a bike mechanic has been properly trained and has the experience then he/she will know how to use them.

However these tools are not recommended for use on front shock drop outs. Most shocks have the sliders with the drop outs cast into them. They are usually cast out of aluminum. Cast aluminum has a very low yield point and will easily break and snap in two if they are bent. The "H" tools mentioned above are designed to be used on forks and drop outs made from steel, which has a much higher modulus of elasticity or yield point, and they can be bent, tweaked and coaxed back into alignment without compromising the metal.

Front shock lower sliders are held together and aligned at the factory with a "U" type brace that goes over the tire. This allows the two legs of the shocks to travel in unison. Most front shocks have these two sliders and the U brace cast as one piece to eliminate the need for manual alignment of the drop outs. So if one of your drop outs is tweaked so that the wheel doesn't fit, then it most likely got damaged in shipping and I would have to assume that you did not purchase it assembled from a local (to you) bike shop. You may need to take it up with the shipping company or with where you originally purchased the bike to get this rectified.

I bought the huffy 16"

It's pretty hard to know how to help you exactly. But this may help--- if you have (or can borrow) a digital camera, take close-up pictures of your parts then take the camera with you to a Wal-mart or wherever this bike is sold. Compare your pictures to one on display. Or better yet, take the whole bike with you. Or just take close-up pictures of the bike on display. It might also be useful to know that the front fork (that is the two metal bars about 10 inches long that point toward the ground that the wheel attaches to) sometimes have to be spread apart just a bit to fit the wheel's axle in place. I'm talking about maybe 1/4 inch or so. If it's a lot more than that the fork may have gotten bent in shipment and you should take it back.
good luck, Merry Christmas. Al K

Sir, i have some problem with gear getting harder day by day, while changing eventhough it was purchased recently. i also wonder why the front wheel of my pulsar 180cc bike is not rotating properly when in...

The shifting problem is due to bent shift forks. This is a major repair and not recommended for the novice mechanic. As to the front wheel, the prior owner may have bent the wheel rim. Have the shop look at the wheel when they fix the transmission.
