How do I replace the fuse in the canister body?

My beater bar stopped working suddenly with no provocation. I tried everything I normally would have but nothing worked. I have been told that there is a fuse in the cannister body that may need to be replaced. How do I get to it and where can I buy the fuse. Thanks

Hey, Chris, the reset button did not work. I called the repair place and they said that yes there is a fuse in the cannister that controls the beater bar. Do you know how to check that fuse?

I was told by a previous repair man that there is a fuse in the beater bar that needed to be replaced.

Up to my experience in my Panasonic vacuum cleaner, if the beater bar is not working this could be because the 'Carpet/Floor' selector switch is in the 'OFF' or 'FLOOR' position. In both of these positions the beater bar will not rotate. Move the selector switch to the 'CARPET' position. When in this position the beater bar will rotate once the foot pedal is pressed.

If the selector switch is in the 'CARPET' position and the beater bar is still not rotating it could be that there is something entangled in the beater bar, or the belt is worn or broken.

To check this first unplug the vacuum cleaner

Inspect the beater bar and belts to ensure that there is nothing entangled in the beater bar and that the belts are intact and are not excessively worn. If the belts are excessively worn they may slip resulting in the beater bar not rotating.

The vacuum cleaners often have an overload protection system inside the nozzle, which stops the nozzle motor when the beater bar jams to prevent belt breakage. After clearing any lint build up or jamming you may need to reset the overload protection, by pressing the reset button on the top of the floor nozzle.

Motor won't run...beater bar does

might be the motor.but if there is a fuse it will be inside somewhere the cord comes in.if it there you will see a wire with a tubular piece of plastic in between the wire, thats where the fuse wil be.unplug it first.on the side you will see where the two pieces snap together.but first go back to the switch and make sure all the wires are connected.one might have came off when you were putting it back together

Power head for Kenmore Canister Vac

Another potential problem for the increase in difficulty in turning the beater bar (drum) could stem from extremely dirty bearings, located at each end of the beater bar. I've seen hair knotted up to the point it chokes the bar and significantly reduces its ability tpo turn.

Beater bar has stopped turning

All beater and rotating brush bars are fairly easy to get to with a couple of screw on the bottom of your wan. They are driven by a belt and these belts come off, break, or the bar itself is stuck with rug material. Unplug your vacumn and get our screwdriver. It;s easy to figure out once inside the wan.

Power brush not working well

You probably have a worn belt that drives the beater bar... 2 year old belts with reasonable use are more than likely due for a replacement. You should be able to get a replacement drive belt from Sears and change it yourself.. The baseplate of your power brush seperates and should provide access to the beater brush and drive pulley system.. Hope that helps..

Beater bar brush stopped working...

Does the power head motor stop, or does the brush roll stop. If it is the brush roll stopping, replace the belt and/or the brush roll. If it is the motor, you may need to clean out around the motor, it may not be getting enough air to cool causing it to overheat and stopping. That the brush roll plate off, take out the screw, and the top will come off, then you can check to see if cleaning is the answer, if not, the motor may be bad.
