My harddrive got a virus on it so i transfered all my photos to a Mac and then formatted it. After formatting, i transferred the photos back to my harddrive. I have now plugged it into another windows xp comp and as i was working with the photos, there was a popup telling me that the other files have been lost. some of my photos have now been deleted and the folders are empty! What is happening and can i recover the lost photos? Ive ran virus scan and it says there is none? also, it is now not completing the automatic back up correctly.
Wow, just keep banging away and maybe you can destroy the data on the drive forever.
To reduce the chances of this happening again, try two programs the first is Malware Bytes (www.malwarebytes.com) It will go out and find threats, even if your computer has a trojan or virus that has taken over the normal desktop. We have used it for about a year and it seems to be able to get a lot of stuff in a short time.
Then, try www.recuba.com This is the program that will go out and let you try to recover missing files.
If it were my system, I'd try to recover first, then run Malware Bytes.
