I need model WMS25EGSI to operate my microwave that does not heat

Classic Door Safety Interlock Switch failure. Remove the cover, check the micro switches with a ohm meter for proper operation. They should show 'short' when the door is closed and "open" when the door is open ... or the reverse of this depending on the method used by the manufacturer. Point being, the switches show one condition with the door open and the other condition with the door closed.

The oven needs to know the door is closed before it will turn on the heat. If the switches have failed, the oven thinks the door is open ... make sense?

Why do they fail? Because we all open the door while the oven is operating and this causes switch failure.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

No heat. Do i need to replace it or can it be repaired?

Check the door safety interlock switches. Expect to pay about $3.00 for new switches if you found them to be defective using a volt/ohm meter on Continuity setting.

The switches tell the oven if the door is open or closed ... if they are burned, they cannot tell the oven the door is closed. Since the door is open, the oven will not turn on the heat. Make sense? (forget what YOU know about the door!)

Runs but will not heat

Check the door safety interlock switches for proper operation. These switches tell the oven if the door is open or not. If they have failed, the oven thinks the door is open and will not allow the heat to come on.

We have had this microwave for 7 years. Not had any problems until about six months ago when the volume went way down when you push the buttons and timer, but still heated. Then all of a suddon it does...

Remove the cabinet ... check the door safety interlock switches for proper operation. Most of the time, no heat problems can be traced to the oven thinking the door is open. These switches tell the oven if it is open or closed. If they are faulty ... well ... the oven thinks the door is open and will not turn on the heat.

Make sense?

Hi. I have samsung microwave oven GE83ZL two years old. I was out for a month. after i came back and starts the oven but its not working grill is ok but microwaves are not heating up the food ! oven works...

check the door safety interlock switches. if failed, they cannot tell the oven that the door is closed and if the door is open, the magnetron will not come on. remove the cover and find the small micro switches neat the door latch system. check them with a ohm meter with the door open ... then closed. of course, you are checking for continuity ...not voltage ... so unplug the oven before you start.

Makes grinding sound when turned on---does not heat---turntable does turn

Grinding sound may be the turntable not sitting properly on its support. Regarding the heat issue, check the door safety interlock switches for proper function.

As you use your oven, open the door while it is running, arcing occurs on the little contacts and they eventually burn. When they cannot make contact, the oven doesn't know if the door is closed or not. Forget what YOU know about the door ... the oven must know and it knows by the information it gets from these switches. Door open, the oven will not turn on the heat.

Everthing seems to work fan, lites, timer. but when you push the on button the microwave dosen't come on

I hear you saying everything seems fine with your oven except there is no heat action, Is that correct?

In my experience, the trouble can be traced to a faulty micro switch in the door safety interlock system as the #1 trouble.

Please remove the cover - use care to not touch the silver can - find the micro switches on the side away from the hinge.

You can test these switches with a volt/ohm meter in contunity setting. Test each switch independently.

What frequently happens is these switches become burned from arcing due to the door being opened while the oven is operating. The purpose of these switches is to tell the oven the door is closed and it is OK to turn on the magnatron. If the switch is burned, (fails to make a contact) the oven thinks the door is open, door open, no heat ... Make sense?

Find replacement switches at a FixYa.com advertiser, a local appliance parts place or at www.repairclinic.com

This is not the only reason for a oven to not heat ... if this problem persists, please post a note here.

Microwave doesn't heat

check your door safety interlock switches ...

switch burned = no circuit

no circuit = door open (as far as the oven is concerned)

door open = no magnatron action

no magnatron action = no heat

Of course it could be something else ... but if it is the switch, you can easy fix that.

Everything works on my microwave oven but it doesn't heat the food

Check the door safety interlock switches ...

Remove the cover and find the switches opposite the hinges. Check with a contunity meter.

If you open the door while the oven is cooking these switches arc. Enough arcing and they burn. When they are burned, they cannot tell the oven that the door is closed. When the oven thinks the door is open, it will not turn on the heat.
