If your DS switches on briefly with a green light and a flash from the screens then one of your screens is faulty, could be a easy as re-seating the connection for it. If not changing the screen most often the top one.
If the orange light comes on when plugged in its probably the fuse called F1 on the motherboard. You can jump it out with a bit of wire to test it, then if that works change it.

How long should my battery last? I bought an nintendo DS lite and I forgot to ask?

Hello there, the Nintendo DS Lite has four levels of brightness. The battery will last 15-19 hours on the lowest settings, and 5-8 hours on the brightest. This can also vary depending on the type of game activity."
So the DS should last the whole time in even on the highest brightness settings, if fully charged. Nintendo states that it takes 3 hours to fully charge the DS.

hope this helped, also this site will also help you to get your ds battery to last for longer

We had this problem with a brand new DS Lite...turns out it was a bad charger. If you have access to another charger, try that first. Good luck!

How to help me with my nintendo ds lite

If your DS is fully charged and a green light flashes on when you try to use it and maybe a screen flashes on, than you should try a new battery. Batteries lose their charging capacity after each charge.

Nintendo DS Lite won't come on

@JoepIt, you have a defective LCD screen. Could be upper of lower (I thing for 99% the upper).

@pietras1422, on the mainboard next to the power-switch, there is a resistor. If could be loose or is missing completely. Problem will occur when the DS Lite is dropped to the ground
