Yes, you can.

When the system is installed, the first thing that you want to do is adjust the visual effect of Windows for best performance. Next, then select the classic mode. Then, go start, run, and type regedit

In the registry go to HKEY Current Users Control Panel Desktop If the registry key MenuShowDelay doesn't exist, create a string and enter a value of 0. Also, you can create a string, if it doesn't exist, HungAppTimeout and set it to 1000

Also, type msconfig in the run dialog box. Uncheck unneeded programs that you don't want to start up. Sound icons will have to be deselected through the control panel.

Also, go through the control panel of Windows and go to the display and make sure that the fade effects are not selected. Only the Alt select is enabled.

Also, go the the computer management, services and uncheck also certain services that you do not want to run. Just make sure that they are not critical windows services. Check the internet for these services.

When this is all completed, you can run Windows Vista on about 550 MB of RAM. You will definitely have to upgrade your RAM, but at least this is a start.

You can install but install wizard will tell you to upgrade sections that do not meet minimum specs (ie Ram and HD)
If it does install then it will be very slow on the Ultimate edition...possibly try the basic or home edition OR go to XP with SP3....just as good

Hi Trifon,
you are detecting a known problem for 32 bit operating systems.
The problem for those system is that they can manage maximum 3 Gb of RAM.
If you want all of your RAM used you have to install a 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 has also a version for 64 bit as well as windows xp (but is not good supported) and windows vista.

Hi!... I am using window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I am facing the problem of full HD. earlier when me using window Vista that has been ok. If there is any solution plz let me know!.. thanks Moiz Raja

windows 7 os requires atleast 16GB avilable space while windows vista requires atleast 15gb. It could be true that your system requirements are not sufficient for the new os you want to install
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

  • DVD-ROM drive

If you want to run Windows Vista on your PC, here's what it takes:

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

  • 1 gigabyte (GB) of system memory (512 megabytes (MB) for Home Basic)

  • 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space (20 GB for Home Basic)

  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with WDDM and 128 MB of graphics memory (32 MB for Home Basic)

  • DVD-ROM drive

I have a compaq presario c700 running windows vista. On my previous laptop I was able to record successfully using Audacity. Now, however, recordings are very poor - the sound comes and goes, and is of...

Stuart, make sure have the System requirements Here are the recommended memory (MB or GB of RAM) and processor speed (GHz) requirements for using Audacity with different versions of Vista:

Version Recommended RAM/
processor speed Minimum RAM/
processor speed Vista Home Basic 2 GB / 1 GHz 512 MB / 1 GHz All other Vista versions 4 GB / 2 GHz 1 GB / 1 GHz
Note that the minimum system requirements as defined above (i.e. those that allow the operating system to run, ignoring what is required to run applications) are much greater than for Windows XP. If your computer does not significantly exceed these minimum requirements then you may have problems doing more intensive tasks in Audacity such as recording for long periods or editing a large number of long tracks, or may need to close other programs and processes before you can do so. Please be aware that the cheapest "deals" for new Vista machines may well only include the Vista Home Basic Edition and system specifications little in excess of the Vista minimum requirements.
Other things being equal, 64-bit versions of Vista will require more RAM than 32-bit versions. While some users report Audacity runs fine on 64-bit Vista with 2 GB RAM, this depends on the number of tracks being worked with and the number of other programs and services running on the computer. Memory is now very inexpensive. The general recommendation for 64-bit Vista is to install a minimum of 4 GB RAM - and for very best performance, install the maximum RAM that your motherboard supports.

If you meet the min system requirements. Uninstall your sound card drives and try the beta version for Windows Vista.

New game not working rite

What are you system specs? (ram, proccesser, graphic cards)

They should be the same or better then this.

CPU: 1.4 GHz Pentium 4 or equivalent

RAM: 256 MB (for Vista, 1 GB highly recommended)
Video Card: OpenGL 1.3 compatible 64 MB AGP with hardware T&L
Hard Disk: 540 MB free space

Operating System: Windows 2000/XP/Vista with DirectX 9 or higher installer.

If you have these then you should ask a retailer (from where you got it from) for other requirments, or just get a refund.

Problem regarding installation pack

I do not quite understand your configuration, but 512 MB RAM is certainly not enough to run Vista Ultimate in any productive way.

See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/system-requirements.aspx for minimum requirements.

these requirements are bare minimum, you will not enjoy Vista with such minimal configurations
