I have a chi flat iron model GF 1001 USA The top does not heat up at all? What could be the problem?

Have you checked it on different plug ins? I realize this sounds silly, but I had the same problem once and had a fit...all to find out my plug in had tripped. Bathrooms usually have those plugs that have the little button to reset the current. Maybe if you try that and different plugs.... If not, I would take it back as it is obviously defective. May have a bad connection, short, bad fuse, etc, and you would not want it anyway because it would not be safe.

Try resetting it. Sometimes that can fix the problem. Make sure it's not a damaged cord. If it is, let me know and I can help you out with it. If it's not that, depending on how long you've had it, you can probably return it for another one.
