Brother MFC 640 printer/all-in-one power supply dead
My Brother mfc 640 printer/all-in-one power supply seems to have bit the dust (died): the unit doesn't power up anymore. Can I fix it? Where can I get a new / refurb / whatever PS?
Hi Ian, The sympton I had with it were that nothing on the unit would power up. We've had problems with our old house wiring in the past with electronics, during surges or spikes or whatever, so I wouldn't be surprised if the main IC has burnt out somewhere. I've already given it away to a freecycler though! Cheers, Ben.Hi Ian,

Hi Ben. I just posted a similar problem. Are you sure it's the Power Supply though?. The one in my unit is fine, as are the low voltage supplies on the main PCB. (5V and 3.3V). The problem is the biggest IC on the main board getting hot.

Use paper path cleaner sheets to remove bits of paper dust from all the internal rollers in the paper path. You can get them from office supply stores.
