Frigidaire freezer model glfh21f8hw brand new...temp set for -10f...compressor shuts off at +2f and temp inside runs up to 24f and alarms...compressor wont kick on unless i hit ''up '' button...shouldnt this be automatic...cant leave the house because it keeps quitting and going too high in temp...when we follow the instructions on setting temp...it doesnt work it only flashes......only the extreme freeze setting kicks in but then that will quit eventually and up goes the temp again...what is the secret to make this thing work...thanks...
You more than likely need a new controller if the compressor doesn't come on. There's only one controller on this particular unit, and yes it should be automaticYou more than likely need a new controller if the compressor doesn't come on. Contact a professional. The power supply source needs to be testing to the compressor and see if the power is fine, or if the compressor is faulty and not drawing needed power.
At 0F it will go off because it is at 0 so it is ok later when it warms up again it will start up and bring the temp down again. Just check your temp for a couple of days so you have it at the right temp.that you need it at. It should be OK at 0F
I'd say the freezer thermostat is stuck closed. You will have to verify this with a meter. The wiring diagram is on the back of most freezers. Good luck.
If your'e positive the temp is ok then your freezer cold control may be bad. Slowly turn it toward off. If the compressor doesn't cut off before it gets to off, the control is probably bad. Test it here>http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php
Sounds like the sensor circuit may be open. Here is the problem, either it has a board that's bad or the sensor is out. Ohm the sensor circuit and record the temp the box is at in refrigerator and freezer. then the ohm reading. Contact manufacturer or representative of manufacturer, and ask what the sensor should read at the temps you have.
Generally if you get a reading on the sensor circut the sensor is ok, and the board is out BUT not always. this is why you need the temperature and the ohm readings. Sometimes the wire diagram has a legend with these reading on it. Look all around the underneath and behind sections for an envelope containing the wire diagram.
i dont think so i would look at the compressor kicking out on thermal overload or a faulty thermostat thermostats have two settings cut in cut out your cut in could be bad and not turning the compressor on till the temp reaches melting temps now if your hearing a click buzz then you need to look at the compressor and make sure the compressor fan is running but its not a defrost promblem
YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A FREON LEAK AND RUNNING THE FREEZER WITHOUT FREON IN IT WILL KILL THE COMPRESSOR UNLESS YOU UNPLUG IT AND GET IT FIXED,THE COILS ON MOST FREEZERS ARE IN THE SIDE WALLS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO CLEAN THEM LIKE ON YOUR FRIG.HOPE THIS HELPS-MIKE
