I believe that's an air cooled engine. Check the cooling fins on the head to see if there clogged up with some grass or weeds. Also if there is a screen on the sides of the hood make sure there clean as well so air can get in unrestricted. Other wise you have an internal engine problem and should probably go to a repair shop

I have a john deere z245 that I was mowing the grass with yesterday, it ran out of gas, I refilled it and it will not start. It turns and turns but doesnt turn over

You're positively sure it ran out of fuel<?>. If it merely ran out of fuel then likely the fuel pump has vapor locked. If you didn't FILL the fuel tank, do so and try again (the trick here is to get the fuel level in tank higher than the fuel pump). Attempt start, if still no run then try starting fluid.

To be successful using starting fluid, remove the air filter to expose the carburetor intake. Spray a 1 second burst of starting fluid directly into the carburetor throat (you don't have to reinstall the air filter, yet). Promptly crank engine.

If engine cranks but no run, then either no spark or engine is flooded. If it runs for a couple seconds and dies, then fuel from tank is still not reaching carburetor. Repeat attempt with starter fluid. Comment here with results for further assistance if needed.

Be sure to reinstall air filter before returning to mowing.

My 2008 John Deere 6330 premium is showing transmission oil hot after couple he's brushhogging. Fluid level is full. Why would it be getting hot?

Hey Susan, there could be a few things... a bad bearing causing too much friction,, a bent shaft causing the friction, .. have you changed the fluid to make sure there is no water in it... water DOES NOT lubricate./its just boils and get HOT..... I would change the entire fluid (filter too)... and see if that makes a difference.

I have a john deere 425 20 hp OHV K series liquid cooled. After about and hour or so of run it overheats and stop. I put a new air filter on it. that didn't help.

check fluid level in the cooler / radiator that its clean 'air can flow through ' air filter is fuel and carb not cooling system --

My truck won't rev more than 3,000 rpm's or go faster than 40 mph. Idles okay , runs okay at low speeds and low rpm's. I can't even get on the freeway, takes a long time to pick up any speed.

Hi:
A couple easy things to check out are your fuel filter and air filter. The fuel filter can be very restricted and cause a similar problem. , The air filter, not so much.
Plugged up catalytic converters can cause a loss of power too.! Hope you find your problem..

John Deere 1020 Weak 3 point hydraulics

I would suggest you find a JD dealer and buy a manual if you want to do the maintenance yourself. You can also do a Google search and find manuals.

I would also suggest you completely drain the old hydraulic fluid and replace it with new fluid and a new filter if it has not been serviced any time in the recent past.

The symptoms you describe can be low fluid and/or a clogged filter. If you or anyone else has run the tractor too long and it has low fluids and/or a clogged filter, you can damage the hydraulic pump and that can get costly.
