Brother MFC 440CN pick up wheels only work about

Use a water dampened cloth to clean the pickup roller. They get residue on them over time that causes them to not grip the surface of the paper when feeding.

Leave the machine and attend to it at a later time repeating all you initially did.

The paper feed kit is the pick up rollers and the transfer rollers. You can thake those out clean them and replace them, but unless you are actually having paper feed issues usually just clean the paper tray feed rollers with alcohol and reset the paper feed kit counter if needed.

You can leave it off if you open the back door and lift the roller assembly each time you remove or install the paper cassette. The only way to get a new one is to order the whole feed roller assembly.

Must be the clutch that's shot, if cleaning the rollers didn't work

Some times need to clean "paper roller" with water-based cleanser with white fabrics or rag. The reason of this problem often is paper dust. The paper roller have excentric shape and you must to clean biggest radius of contact sphere of paper roller. To do this you must to interrupt rotation of roller, then printer try to pick up paper, by "power off" printer.

Had a similar problem with the MFC-885cw. Turns out that , if you have a photo paper tray installed which sits just above the main tray, you need to puill it all the way back towards you otherwise it blocks the paper feed. Not the best design feature I've ever seen.

Normally by cleaning your pick-up roller and your stopper roller will correct your problem....Do that with alcool !

Is this through the ADF (top feeder) or from the paper tray? Either one can have some build-up on the paper feed rollers and would have to be cleaned.
