Even from here I was able to find yours is a UK model
by constructing a search line...

It depends on the cause which can be a short circuit or faulty thermocouple, element failure or the opto/triac driver faulty.

That hole is most likely a vent for oven where some heat escapes.

hi my name is mark, yes most manual gas valves can be disassembled and lubed. you will need gas valve grease. remember a little goes a long way and shut off the gas to the unit before disassembly.

This antenna is called the stirrer here in the US. Its purpose is to stir the microwaves to ensure even cooking.

The cover is usually made of plastic, as opposed to ceramic, and it keeps grease and food particles off the stirrer to protect it from arcing, which can damage the surfaces and the magnetron.

The stirrer, stirrer cover and the area around it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available in appliance parts stores and hardware stores.

Also, the stirrer will arc if it is not turning when the oven is cooking. That may mean a bad stirrer motor.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced. It provides important protection for the magnetron and stirrer.
