Your latch might be in the closed position before you even close the door, try using a small screwdriver on the latch while pressing the release button, if it's stuck closed then this will open it to the right position so it will lock closed when you close the door. If this does not work, sometimes the problem is in the striker (the little tab that the lock hits when the door is closed, this usually has 2 small screws holding it in place, you should be able to loosen both screws & adjust the striker forward or backward so the latch will make better contact with it.
that would happen to me and my sisters almost regularly when I was younger. Simply pull the greasy latch open with your finger while operating the door latch that would normally open the door. If its too tough for a finger, which it should not be and never was for me then you could use a screwdriver to pry it, but obviously nothing will happen if you do not pull the door latch at the same time.
if you talking about door latch wont let door close.try to reset all door locks.first if you cant get door close.work unlock button with remote or door switch.then hold open door handle while you flat screw driver pull up latch in door latch should stay up so door will close.once get door close.try resetting all door locks by sitting inside vechicle with all doors close.remove key from ignition.open drivers door.wait 24 seconds.turn ignition switch on and back to lock position 3 times.press and release drivers door courtesy light 3 times.ensure doors lock and unlock.if not wait 40 seconds and repeat procedure.if this procedure fails. you have problem in the door latch and lock mechanism inside the door itself.
Check the latch assembly where the door closes. If the latch claw is closed it won't latch. Make sure the door is unlocked. Insert a screwdriver into the middle of the claw (circular opening where the striker latches). Open the door handle from inside or outside and pull sideways on the latch it should pop open. If it doesn't then the lock mechanism is in the lock position. Remove door panel follow lock rod to the latch and manually try to move the lever to the unlock position. If all fails you probably will need a new latch assembly.
It sounds to me ( correct me if I'm wrong ) like the door latch on the side vertical edge of the door is in the LOCKED POSITION. In order to unlock it perform the following. First electrically with the LOCK button UNLOCK the locks. Now with one hand hold the OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE IN THEOPEN POSITION, while at the same time FLIPPING OPEN THE LATCH. All Done . Now you can close the door. Hope this helps
The fault sounds like its the catch at fault, I would recomend replacing, if you can open tgailgate, operate the unlock funcion using key and try and move the catch position
