Messages in phone are not lost when you change your SIM card but if messages are stored in SIM card, you can copy then to phone.
To copy SIM messages to phone do the following:
1. Open Messages
2. Press Menu and select settings.
3. Scroll down and select "Manage SIM messages"
4. Select Messages in SIM and copy or move to phone memory
Now when you change your SIM, these messages will remain in the phone
But, if you mean changing the phone, download a simple program called SMS backup & Restore.
It will backup your messages to memory card in a file. You can save the file on pc and restore your messages to other phone when you change your phone.
Here is Android Market Link to download SMS Back & Restore:

The reason for that is because there are message from a certain person that has sent you a message that consists of 2 pages or more, the phone shows it to you as one whole message but it's divided in several pages. Especially if you often receive long messages from a person, then, that doesn't only count as 1 message, but it is shown to you as 2 whole message. Hope this helps.
The phone lady thats answering the line,it that message through comcast or the GE answering machine? Also, whats the model number of the GE answering system?
Hello Sir,
All incoming messages are by default stored in the Sim Card. In the Inbox, you have to manually move the messages to phone memory. It can only be done one message after the other. When you are viewing the message which you want to transfer to phone memory, select " more " and select " move to phone ". Then it will get transferred to the phone memory. And for the last point, no message can be transferred to the Micro SD ( Memory Card ). You can only store a maximum of 500 messages and that only in the phone memory. After 500 messages are stored in the phone, the next 20 messages will be automatically stored in the sim memory.
Thank you and I hope I helped you. Have a nice day.
The phone allocates a certain amount of storage for messages on a whole. Even though there may still show space available for text messages, you have hit an invisible "limit" and the phone is now defaulting to MMS messages because there is "room" there. Delete a fair amount of messages and you should be able to start sending regular text's again.
