Using a Sanyo TRC 5200 to transcribe and all it does when i try to record is make beeping noise, the tape will do all other functions, play, rr ff cannot figure out why it will not record. Thanks.

Nothing like going back in time. Think what you have here is a belt issue. As in the belt has stretched over time and is no longer tight enough to hold when you engage the motor on ff or rew. Repair shop might be able to help or else you might want to consider a new machine which is all digital recording. ie no moving parts inside.
Does the erase light come on and the tape rewinds? Or does it just beep when you try? Could be a bad erase switch, sometimes pressing harder will do the trick. If it just beeps, try another tape.
Just talked to Exec. Communication Systems. He said that the play motor is not turning (the rewind and fast forward uses a separate motor) and the problem is either the belt or the motor. They can repair them at $82.00 plus parts and shipping.
The motor has gone and would need replacement. Unfortunately, this part was recently discontinued so you will have trouble finding someone who has one.
please note other microcassettes work its just the Sparco 51045
then dont use it,get a different one,a digital one or use your cell phone
