Will not rewind or fast forward microcassette tape. Makes a noise like rewinding or FF but then starts beeping. Not a tape issue, tried other tapes.

Nothing like going back in time. Think what you have here is a belt issue. As in the belt has stretched over time and is no longer tight enough to hold when you engage the motor on ff or rew. Repair shop might be able to help or else you might want to consider a new machine which is all digital recording. ie no moving parts inside.

The machine won't erase my tapes? Is there a chance it could be a faulty machine?

Does the erase light come on and the tape rewinds? Or does it just beep when you try? Could be a bad erase switch, sometimes pressing harder will do the trick. If it just beeps, try another tape.

Suddenly my Sony M-2000 Microcassette Transcriber will not PLAY. The tape will Rewind and Fast Forward fine, but when you push PLAY, it just beeps and won't move. Any ideas?

Just talked to Exec. Communication Systems. He said that the play motor is not turning (the rewind and fast forward uses a separate motor) and the problem is either the belt or the motor. They can repair them at $82.00 plus parts and shipping.

Try cleaning the heads with a head cleaner and making sure none of the parts have become loose due to extensive use.

Sanyo Transcribing Machine - model unknow

The motor has gone and would need replacement. Unfortunately, this part was recently discontinued so you will have trouble finding someone who has one.
