Before you try a reset continue submitting passwords until the unit asks for your google account sign in. If you have a google account go ahead and sign in. If you don't have a google account type null for the user name and four zeros, ie, 0000 for the password.
To my knowledge, you would need to do a factory reset if you have forgot your password. That was my only option. I hope you backed it up or you will need to reload all your apps and such things.

this is a reset. Only after this screen is shown, press and hold the power and volume up buttons together for 3 seconds. Now, use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select items. Navigate to and select "wipe data/factory reset".

If you forgot windows password but created a password reset disk beforre, you can use the password reset disk to recovery your current password quickly and easily.
