TV Doesn't Function: Can turn on, but no menu or input recognition

the set like all has a hard reset which requires a four digit number code and the original Mitsubishi remote---sets almost everything in the set back to original except convergence.

also, don't buy any TV or electronics on CL as people dump their problems on someone else..

HDMI/ DVI inputs failed approx. one month after connection of Denon home theater receiver with HDMI pass-through feature "on." Gear successfully re-connected via component video inputs. Self-diagnosed via unit Service Manual as Main Board failure; diagnosis confirmed verbally by local TV tech. Replaced Main Board successfully, but this did not restore HDMI/ DVI inputs. Removed replacement Main Board and re-installed original Main Board. Now, upon initial plug-in, power supply relay clicks & green power LED lights. After approx. 2 sec., power supply relay clicks again, green power LED turns off, OPC LED flashes red at one-second invervals indefinitely. Have not performed further diagnosis other than making sure everything was reconnected following re-installation of original Main Board. Perhaps I missed something on the LED control unit (or broke a conductor in the ribbon connector between LV sockets on LED control unit and Main Board)?

hi welcome to fixya
i want to clarify first the problem sir so as of now the problem with your tv won't power on then you are using again the old main board is that right ? when you use the new replacement main board the tv is functioning will the only problem is that the HDMI / DVI inputs doesn't work. and now you encountered power supply problem like won't start up or something that cut the supply in which the stand by indicator is turn off so as my idea it has a problem with the old board. but before you come up with the board making sure all the connectors coming from the power supply is properly connected to the main board as will as flexible and lvds cable for the T-con board is properly inserted.just let me know if is that what you are asking for so i can give you additional solution thanks for consulting the fixya.

Both the picture and sound work when the TV is turned on, yet the picture is distorted like a double picture and has a yellow hue to it.

Sounds like you have a convergence problem. If you go into the setup menu of your TV, there should be some settings to adjust the red, green and blue hues and re-position them so each color matches up. If this does not work or if you don't have a menu, your TV *might* have a circuit board with several plastic screws on it. These adjust the picture and it's a very tedious task to re-align each hue correctly.

My projection TV is an older model from 1995, which is probably why it has this circuit board in place of a convergence menu built into the TV.

If adjusting the convergence still doesn't work, you might need to purchase a new convergence chip.
