I have never owned a HD television but I plan to purchase my first one very soon. Can you recommend the best overall HD television for me based on my details below? Thank you.

---Looking to buy either a 50" or 55" HD tv. ---Use it mainly for watching television (NHL hockey, NFL football, MLB baseball, movies, etc.) ---Will locate the HD tv in my basement (rec room). Relatively dark or very dim, except when I have the ceiling lights on which are located about 10 to 15 feet back from the front of the tv, on the ceiling. ---Don't really require the bells and whistles of a tv suited for the internet, although I wouldn't refuse it if it is problem-free. ---Mainly looking for a very crisp, clear picture, with good sound, good viewing angles. ---Knowing the sets come with the calibration settings not programmed, I am hoping I can obtain or locate the proper or recommended settings for whichever HD television I purchase.

My samsung model un46b6000vfxza led tv has colored verticle lines through the picture. Normal picture for about 5 seconds after turning on and then the lines appear.

Hello,

If anyone else is experiencing this same issue. Please feel free to contact me, as I am planning to gather as many customers information as possible that have experienced this same problem, in order to start a class action lawsuit concerning Samsung's selling of merchandise with knowledge of design flaws and planned obsolescence. Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].

I purchased this same Model Television in 2010 for $3300 from Best Buy, purchased the 5 year warranty, and the week after those 5 years were up from originally being registered on their website, this issue occurred completely out of nowhere.

The only fix is to purchase and entirely new replacement part (LTS460HF08) which they no longer carry and which cannot be found through other means.

Do not hesitate, please reach out with any questions or concerns, as I have ceased purchasing anything else from Samsung, have recommended the same from family, friends, followers, coworkers, social media outlets, and hopefully as soon as we can get enough names to begin this class action lawsuit, the mainstream media.

Thank you,

Concerned Consumer.

No Non-Hd sound

In a nutshell, there is no solution to this problem. The new Insignia TVs have a compatibilty issue with certain HDMI connections. The best thing is to return the TV and purchase another brand. I bought the LG w/built-in DVD and everything works great.

Samsung TV

Hi Lazaros,

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your television.

The Best Buy™ Performance Service Plan (PSP) offers service on your television if it is working improperly, not replacement. However, if you purchased your television within 30 days, you may be eligible for a return or exchange under the Best Buy™ store return and exchange policy. After the initial 30 day period, you have coverage through the manufacturer’s warranty and the PSP, which provide for service.

Rest assured – a qualified service technician will do their best to correct the problem you are having. If you have any further questions about the PSP or other options that may be available to your specific situation, please call 1-888-Best Buy™.

Thank you,

Poor picture

Dynamic mode will give you a brighter picture. The energy saving mode runs the lamp at a more efficient level that saves energy at the cost of a slightly darker picture. Based upon your description, I'd guess that the lamp is nearing the end of its useful life. Plan on changing the lamp soon. When you do so, place the set back to standard mode and energy saving.

Picture coming on then goes out black

When the set goes off, does it die completly or do you still have audio through the TV speakers? If the whole set goes dead, it could be a High Voltage shutdown problem or something more simple like a bad solder connection in the power supply. You will need a Tech to look at it to determine the best course of action. In the past, RCA has had huge problems with solder connections that they made good after the warranty period ended, but overall, after the company was bought by a French outfit, it was never the same, and I've been repairing them since 1976. Their reliability did allow me to send two kids to college, and I do own a trade-in 60" RCA projection TV for myself that I plan to keep for about another year before going HDTV myself.
