Do you use an digital antenna receiver which gives you a couple basic air channels for free Or is it through a cable company? It could be the weather conditions or the antenna could be unplugged or cable wire could be loose or cable company could have certain channels being fixed.
. We have a big Element HD tv flat screen and use an digital antenna receiver and when receiver is unplugged or if our outside/entry way doors are open (receiver antenna is outside) none or some of channels won't work..
Hope this kinda helps :/ :) let me know.at least I tried lol
If no one answers on that model TV (so many models), see following: All the digital TV's have a "search channels" function from a menu button either on remote or on front of TV. See if menu has something like "Setup" and "Auto Tuning" (or words like that) which indicates a digital TV, if no channel search likely analog TV. Once clicking to search for channels (arrow buttons to get there and enter button to start, or some other buttons I saw once did that), it scans the airwaves starting with Ch2 and ending with ch 78 or so. Takes about 30 seconds for it to find channels with antenna connected. Antenna can be old UHF antenna. Search completed, the TV can show the channels in normal channel viewing. If not a digital TV, you can get a DTV converter box to get free tv off the air, it is basically a digital TV tuner that works on analog TV's. You can get those on Ebay.
I am unable to see at a glance how to correct this but it is between its menu, channel and volume buttons to alter the settings it may be worth to run through the re-tune sequence below?
To preset a channel or to change a preset channel, follow the procedure below.
1) Press the POWER button to turn on the TV.
2) Press the MENU button so that the menu display appears
on the TV screen.
3) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "CHANNEL SET".
Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.
4) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "AUTO PRESET CH".
Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.
The tuner scans and memorizes all active channels in your area.
? The TV distinguishes between standard TV channels and cable channels.
? When AUTO PRESET CH action is completed, the lowest memorized channel reappears on the
screen.
? When you press the CH(annel) ? or ? button after selecting "AUTO PRESET CH", the tuner
will stop at the memorized channels only.
? The TV may recognize TV channels to be CATV channels by the receiving conditions. In this
case, try AUTO PRESET CH action again in the fine receiving conditions.
? When AUTO PRESET CH is activated where there is no TV signal input,"NO TV SIGNALS"
will appear on the display after the completion of channel scanning. [ADD/DELETE FUNCTION]
1) Press the MENU button so that the menu display appears on the TV screen.
2) Press the CH(annel) ? or ? button to point to "CHANNEL SET".
Then, press the VOL(ume) ? button.
3) Press the VOL(ume) ? button so that "ADD/DELETE" is selected.
4) Use the CH(annel) ? or ? button to select the
channel you wish to put into memory or to erase from memory. Note: The menu will disappear in about 10 seconds.
Perform "ADD/DELETE" function while this display appears on the
screen.
? Press the VOL(ume) ? or ? button to light up the channel number
in LIGHT BLUE if you wish to add the channel into memory.
? Press the VOL(ume) ? or ? button to light up the channel number
in LIGHT RED if you wish to erase the channel from memory.
5) Press the MENU button to exit the menu.
RF is used for Radio Frequency on your Qam tuner to break it down its the tuner like cheel 1-99 or 1-125 or digital RF clear Qam tuner so RF is your tuner respectivly. You would use this when you have a OTA over the air antenna or sraight cable meaning from wall outlet to tuner not wall outlet to cablebox.
I hope this clears up the meaning.
Thanks for using fixya.com I hope this was Very Helpful to you.
could it be Ch 9's digital signal is not broadcasting right? what is your refresh rate on your tv? 60 or 120hz? if its 120hz, then its more then likely the digital broadcast, if its 60hz I think its your tv can't keep up with their signal that may be at 120hz. Make since??
The antenna must be hooked up to the converter box. The better the antenna, the better your reception will be.
Not everyone in the country will be in range of digital signals. Digital signals have a shorter range than analog signals do right now. It is possible (but unlikely) that you are not currently in range of any digital signals.
So make sure you are set up like this - Antenna--converter box--Television. Then scan for channels. You should still pick up any analog signals while the box is hooked up, you will just view them the same way you do now, by changing the TV station rather than the converter box station.
Get an antenna hooked up, even rabbit ears should pull in a few analog channels. Set top boxes will only output Ch 3 (switcheable to ch 4 on the back if needed) and cable may be dead or only give you scrambled CATV channels. You need to set your tuner to "antenna", not CATV, IRC,HRC, or ATSC (if you have a digital tuner) and do the setup again. You could have a bad tuner at worst, and all is not lost, just hook up a VCR via RCA cables and use the VCR tuner to change channels. Keep TV on Ch3.
