To clean a squirrel cage fan properly it needs to be removed from the air handler. 2 or 4 screws and disconnect wires and remove blower assembly. Loosen screw holding squirrel cage, take the 3 screws loose holding the fan motor in the blower housing, and remove the motor.
Then remove the screws in blower housing, usually 2 and remove the blower wheel.
Clean and reverse the process.

Squirrel cage style fan blades can be cleaned by running... a small screw driver along the inside lenth of each fin, scraping off dirt, ling and stuff. The thing to watch for is to not remove any clip from the fin, it is a balancer, and to not rough handle the fan or it may warp if it's metal.
After scraping, remove all scraped materials by vacuum or other means and when the fan starts up again, it will create a dust cloud for the cleaning process.

I have a msd2641kew Maytag side x side

yes it is possible , it could have caused a restriction. if evaporator coil has a slight frost pattern from top to btm then your compressor and Freon are good and no restriction . if your evaporator coil is only frosting up only a little then you have a freon restriction.

if you just cleaned the coils today , it takes up to 24 hrs to get back to 100 % .

How often do i clean filter sponge and change bio media in gravity 8 watt filter thanks

I find cleaning the filter sponge bi-weekly keeps my koi happy. Normally I change bio media once a year and never at the same time as I clean the filter. There are bacteria that colonize the filter that convert the muck into gases and nutrients. So if you clean them both at the same time you remove this cleaning crew and that can cause issues.

How do I get my cool operator fan apart to clean the darned thing

hi! there,
well! no brand and model, anyway the guard fan has a quick clip lockaround the fan blade,be sure to unplug your electric fan before doing this, unlock clip lock then the fan has a quick handy lock knob at the center of the fan observed loosening knob there is direction arrow in loosening this if i'm wrong going counter clockwise,or take the direction indicated marked on top of knob.
pull out the blade and have it clean if this is a plastic or aluminum clean it with water and spounge/cleanser,avoid to distorsion on fan blade if happen this will wiggle when run again be carefull and on the second guard fan still connected to your electric fan, there is plastic lock nut release and pull out the 2nd fan guard, try to clean this with water and cleanser, the motor assembly with control and stand just wipe it out ,don't try to get wet specially the motor, let all dried up before reassemble.reverse the process to eassembly
