Hello Deborah;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
Have you replaced the bulb with a special bulb for refrigerators, not a house hold bulb?
Have you up plugged your refrigerator or cut power at the circuit breaker, then remove the bulb and check to see it the contact at the bottom of the socket is not depressed so far that the bulb can not make contact?
Ok, Then:
The light bulb and the door switch are a direct single circuit.
Un plug your refrigerator or turn power off at the circuit breaker.
The switch is flush against the liner wall. They pop in and out. With a small flat head screw driver work your way around the switch until you pop it out. Disconnect the two contacts. BE CAREFUL THE CONTACTS HAVE SHORT LEADS AND MAY FALL BACK INSIDE THE LINER WALL. Hold onto the leads after disconnecting. Connect the new door switch and pop into the liner wall.
You might as well go ahead and purchase the door switch first. This is your problem.
Go into the following website. Put in your model number. Diagrams will appear. Select the diagram with the door switch. It will give you the part number and cost of the switch. Your model number is located in your fresh food section on a label on the upper side of the liner.

I appreciate your post, Deborah!
From what you have described you need to replace the door light switch on your Frigidaire freezer. In order to assist you further I would need your model number. You can locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the inside wall of your freezer. I look forward to assisting you. -Matt
