SOURCE: 2006 12" Kicker L7 4 ohm

first whats the range in terms of WATTS that your 12" sub can handle in 4 OHMS ? second , lets check the AMP , POWER ACOUSTIK 1800 WATTS , Now thats a lot of power to drive a single 12" sub speaker . your amp is 1800 watts , per channel is around 500 watts , if BRIDGE thats around 1600 watts rms for ONE channel , if your sub can handle that kind of wattage fine , but it will not blow the amp , what it does is shuts down , some kind of protection mode , it will come back on after a minute or so. I suggest to use one channel in stereo mode , or purchase another sub to use the other channel. i hope this helps AJ

SOURCE: amplifier loads

Hello ronnieyannon,
A single 4 ohm speaker wired to each channel, like you have them wired, presents a 4 ohm load. And it appears that you have them connected properly. The 401s is only stable to 4 ohms when bridged, so if you were to parallel the 2 4 ohm subs in bridged mode, the load would be 2 ohms and the amp would most likely overheat and go into protection.

I'd wire them the way you have them wired.

Each channel of the amp outputs only 100 watts into 4 ohms. That is adequate for regular full-range speakers, component speakers, mid-range drivers, and even some small subs. But it is a little low on power for most subwoofer applications.

Hope this helps.

Can i run a 4ohm.dvc & a 3ohm.svc off of a mtx te 801d

if you wire the 4 ohm sub voice coils in parallel you will have a 2 ohm load for the Image Dynamics sub, the JL sub only being single voice coil will of course be 3 ohm.
You cannot connect them both to the amp you specified as when connected the total load will be less than 2ohms and the amp will either trip it's protection circuit or could damage the amp, My suggestion is to try each sub separately and decide on the one you like the most or obtain a matching pair for the 4ohm DVC.

I have a mtx thunder 81000d amp i need to know if i can bridge it

Hello frank_sadach,

"Bridging" connects 2 amp channels to one output. The MTX 81000d is a single channel amp so it cannot be bridged.

Hope this helps.

Want to bridge 2 channel amp to push single 4 ohm dvc sub

Hello k_rabbit89,

A 4 ohm DVC sub can be wired in series like you described for an 8 ohm load or the voice coils can be wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load.

If your 2-channel amp isn't stable down to 2 ohms when the channels are bridged (most 2-channel amps are only stable to 4 ohms when bridged), you do not want the voice coils paralleled. The amp will overheat, go into protection mode, and eventually fail completely. A sub with 2 ohm voice coils would be a better fit. That way, you could series the coils for a 4 ohm load and the amp would operate OK with the channels bridged into that load.

But anyway, for the best power from THAT amp to THAT sub, your best wiring solution would be to wire each voice coil to a separate channel. The problem with that is that the signal to each coil needs to be EXACTLY the same or you will have one coil trying to move the cone out while the other one tries to move it in. You can closely approximate identical signals on the output side by using the same input to both channels. Do this by using only one RCA connection (either right or left channel) from your head unit and split it with a "Y" cable.

Hope this helps.

I need to no how to bridge a mtx thunder TA5601 Amp

I hesitate to answer this question for fear that you will not like the answer even if it is the truth. I have received a bad rating from a couple of people in the past just because the right answer was not what they wanted to hear.

This is a mono sub-woofer amp, which means that it is already bridged internally. You only have one speaker output in this amp, that means that the amp circuit is bridged inside, it is not split into two channels.

To bridge any output, it requires 2 channels, otherwise there is nothing to bridge.

I have been repairing car amplifiers for over 18 years, and I promise you that there is no way to bridge a single channel amp. Bridging means to convert 2 channels into 1 channel. If all you have is one channel, then there is nothing left to bridge.

I hope this explains it for you, if you have any other questions feel free to post them here and I will answer as soon as possible.

And please do not punish me with a bad rating if you do not like the answer, it is the correct answer, and sometimes the right answer is not always what we want to hear, but it does not make it wrong.

MTX 4501 Mono Amp - no output

It sounds like you have a defective switch or a broken solder connection. If the amp is new, return it for repair/replacement. Don't break the warranty seal if it has a warranty.

i would go with the 801.And ithink u meant the 4501 not 4051.Both super power amps. competition stuff.your woofers are 4ohms dual voice coils.so you can series the coil on eaach woffer and use the two channels on the amp.they play at 2ohms.I think if you drop it down to 1 ohm you really be taxing you alternator that is series power.Yioou would need a special alternator.Even with them running in 2 ohms you better hav eat least a 2 farad cap.OR two batteries.. ! more thing don 't pump it up with window s closeed .you'll pop them.serious dbl. you be pumping.I'm jealous.Rating please and enjoy.
