mostly there wont be any code. just ask him if you need to change some settings to make it respond.

Unplug the TV for 5 minutes and see if it clears. Is there a mute message icon on the TV screen (picture of a tiny speaker with a line through it)? It turns off anytime the volume control is touched automatically, so if that doesn't happen you have a problem with the TV itself.

START - HELP and SUPPORT - undo changes to your computer with SYSTEM RESTORE- RESTORE MY COMPUTER TO AN EARLIER TIME.
I recomend restoring it to the earliest date that it will restore from. 

Locate the inverter board. This is a pcb with 8 similar black blocks on it. (On the left side if you look from behind).
Measure resistance between the two pins on the end of these blocks. Do this on both ends. Both should be around 950 Ohms. Most of the time there is one or more of these transformers that has infinite resistance (>1 MOhm). Replace these and very probably it will work again. I had exact the same problem and fixed it this way. It's working now!
(I was lucky to be able to buy an inverter board from someone with the same problem, who ordered a new board). I still have five good transformers.
