How do I find out if my device still have warranty

Hi, if the device is under warranty you should send it in for service. The battery is not user accessible on this device unless you open the device up which would void the warranty. As far as I know the battery is not even orderable from Motorola.

If the device is under warranty, or and extended warranty, you will need to contact the warranty provider to have the unit replaced. That is, if they cover such an incident. The water damage has rendered the device inoperable, unfortunately.

To determine the warranty status of your Hard Drive, you should go to Samsung's Warranty Check utility ( http://www.samsung.com/in/support/warranty/hddWarrantyCheck.do?page=HDD.WARRANTY.CHECK) and enter your device serial number.

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not recognized, then the device has a hardware problem. If the W.D. device is still under warranty, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

Some part of the device has "failed".

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

Input/Output to the device (the Seagate) has completed with an "error", meaning that the data could _NOT_ be successfully read from the disk-drive.

Compare it to trying to read what you wrote with pen onto greasy paper -- only some of the letters/words can be read.

This unit should have a year warranty. Check with LG and your particular model on this. If it is under warranty, it should be able to be replaced for free.

Perhaps the portion of the laser pickup that modulates the red laser (used for the CD/CDR part) has failed.

This is not something that can be easily fixed by an average (or even most experienced) technician
