JBL Marine MR-15B radio/cd player. When I press any button unit changes from mono to stereo and that is all it will do?

Question edited for clarity, proper 'make model (what it is)'.

I can't find a manual, but they have a common theme. Remove the faceplate and press the Reset Button, then clean the contacts both sides with electrical switch cleaner or Isopropyl Alcohol.

Won't read the CD's now

have you ever cleaned the lazer lens? goto any CD store and pick up a CD cleaner CD, it is a CD that you place a drop of cleaner on the brushes on the bottom of place it in the CD player and let it play, it will clean the lens that reads the cd, you might have to run it a few times if you have never done this before. that should fix the problem. the CD cleaners are not that expansive, can find them under $20...... hope this helps you..........

I have a JBL MR-17.2 Sirius Ready stereo

To get your Sirius ID number from you MR-17 JBL stereo, select the Mode button until it displays "Sirius". Then push and hold the Mode button for a couple seconds and it will chirp and display 3 blank spaces. Enter three zeros, "000" in these 3 spaces. The Zero is the loud button labeled "LD". When you do that, it will display your Sirius ID number. :)

Jbl marine mr-17 all funtions are frozen

Hi,

Initially, have you tried a full hard reset? The reset button is at the panel at the back of the faceplate, bottom left side. Of course doing so will also erase all presets and user settings & configurations.

Additionally, pls verify that the multiple contacts pins are clean, free of corrosion and makes a positive contact with its mate at the rear of the faceplate. If the unit is used in a salty environment, it may be necessary to manually scrape of whatever blue green build up develops between the connector pins and the plastic insulator. You can try using an old toothbrush and WD40.

Further to check are:
1. the red, yellow and black wire are tightly connected where they are supposed to be connected. If the unit is used onboard, it might be to your advantage to likewise check the grounding system;
2. one of the rear connector is for a remote, pls likewise check that none of the pins are shorting and no presence of any corrosion.

If problem persists, it may be necessary to seek the services of a qualified professional as this involves opening the unit up and tracing the circuitry of the logic/controller circuit.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
